Programmer Analyst 2, Integrated Library Technical Services - Yale University Library, New Haven. Position Focus: Reporting to the Manager of Digital Library and Programming Services, the Programmer Analyst plans, develops, tests, and documents computer programs, applying knowledge of programming techniques and computer systems. In addition, the programmer analyst evaluates user requests for new or modified programs to determine feasibility, cost and time required, compatibility with current systems, and computer capabilities. The Programmer Analyst will focus primarily on evaluation, creation and adoption of software used for ingesting archival collection materials, finding aids and metadata into a digital preservation repository based on the Fedora Commons software in support of a grant funded project to digitize a collection of more than one million documents and objects covering Dr. Henry Kissinger’s life. This position has a duration of two and a half years from the date of hire. Required Education, Skills and Experience: 1. Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in analysis and programming of small to medium scale systems or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 2. Well-developed programming skills; emphasis on code documentation, code standards, and demonstrated use of available frameworks. 3. Well-developed analytical and problem solving skills. 4. Proven ability writing SQL queries using MySQL, Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server; demonstrated ability in application development with two or more of the following: C++, Java/J2EE, Ruby, Python and/or C#. 5. Library IT: Library IT is a department of innovative people who provide multiple IT related services to the Yale Library and the Yale community. The staff supports 8 Enterprise Systems including the integrated library system (ILS). The department maintains 920 workstations, plus a growing number of mobile devices. Library IT maintains 856 Terabytes of storage, and hosts approximately 80 servers, virtual and physical. In addition to maintaining the library’s computers, webpages, and infrastructure, much of the work in the department is project based. Library IT projects are initiated to provide the Yale community with seamless and transparent access to the library’s rich resources, including physical, electronic, and digitized materials. Evening & Weekend Access and Delivery Services Supervisor / Supervisor 2 - Yale University Harvey Cushing/John Hay Whitney Medical Library, New Haven. Schedule: Full-Time (37.5 hours per week); Sunday–Thursday, 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm; Occasional recess days and holidays required. Position Focus: Reporting to the Head of Access and Delivery Services for the Medical Library, this position provides direct oversight for the library’s evening and weekend access and delivery services. The Manager assists in planning and implementing new services, and supporting and improving existing services. Supervises and works closely with the entire Access and Delivery Services (ADS) Team and student assistants to provide users valuable services that support their information and research needs. Motivates and coaches staff to ensure excellent customer service, cultivates teamwork, and promotes a culture in which change is welcomed and supported. Responsible for a range of managerial duties relating to access and delivery services in the Medical Library. Principal Responsibilities: 1. Manages the daily work of the ADS team to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of access services operations, including reserves, document delivery, interlibrary loan and stacks maintenance operations, and all services provided at the circulation and information desks. 2. Supervises 3 FTE Clerical and Technical staff and 4 students. Hires, trains, coaches, and evaluates staff and student assistants. Motivates staff and is responsible for ensuring high quality public services and productivity. 3. Develops, recommends and participates in planning and implementation of new policies and innovative services, and interprets policies for staff. Writes documentation and revises the staff policies and procedures manual. 4. Responsible for process and workflow improvement, including investigating technologies to successfully accomplish the work of the department. Responsible for inventory control and trouble-shooting technical and software issues. As appropriate assists with relations and negotiations with other departments and external vendors. 5. Schedules staff hours. Ensures service desk coverage during holidays, recess periods, and occasions of inclement weather. 6. Ensures that the physical library is an inviting and welcoming space for visitors. Works with University Security to guarantee the safety of patrons, staff and collections, and ensures that proper security measures are followed. Works closely with Facilities when necessary to maintain a safe and functional environment in the evenings and weekend hours. 7. Oversees stacks maintenance and projects. 8. Advances the initiatives of university departments, including but not limited to maintaining databases for the Yale Center for Clinical Investigation and creating bibliographies with persistent URLs in support of the Internal Medicine Curriculum. 9. May also participate and coordinate the activities of other related services and operations in conjunction with other units such as the Library Shelving Facility and West Campus operations. 10. Required to work occasional holidays and recess days. 11. Maybe required to assist in disaster recovery efforts. 12. Part-Time Library Clerk - Prospect Library

Part-Time Library Clerk - Prospect Library is seeking a part-time library clerk to work at its circulation desk for 20 hours per week. Will require working Saturday hours from September thru June (5.5hrs per Saturday) and regular day and evening hours during the week. Electronic Resources Librarian - Yale University Library, New Haven. Position Focus: Reporting to the Chief Acquisitions Librarian, the Electronic Resources Librarian provides professional, technical, and fiscal expertise in the overall coordination and management of electronic resources. Manages the work of the Electronic Resources Group and supervises staff who perform a variety of activities related acquired electronic resources, including licensing, acquisition, management, maintenance, statistical analysis, troubleshooting, and preservation. Keeps abreast of and provides advice and guidance with relationship to trends in publishing, licensing, pricing practices, vendor technologies, and software developments as they relate to the electronic resources lifecycle, to colleagues and staff in Acquisitions, Collection Development, Cataloging & Metadata Services, Library IT, and units that provide user support services. Assesses and addresses electronic resources lifecycle management issues across the Library and recommends, develops, manages, and documents policies, procedures, documentation and best practices related to e-resources, using understanding of industry best practices and working collaboratively and collegially Library-wide with all acquisitions units, collection development staff, selectors, catalogers, and Library IT. Serves as a point of contact with vendors and with consortia for electronic resource acquisitions. Manages process change and workflow shifts based on organizational departmental changes. Collaborates with other acquisitions managers to develop and implement optimal electronic resources workflows. Coordinates renewal and annual review of e-resources. Oversees the development of an assessment program for data related to electronic resources and coordinates with the Library’s developing assessment program. Organizes, analyzes, and interprets usage data and assists selectors with the interpretation of data. Oversees digital preservation activities for acquired electronic resources (ingest of archival copies into Yale University Library’s Rescue Repository, LOCKSS box content management, etc.). Serves on and/or leads University Library committees related to electronic resources and discovery services. Participates in planning committees and task forces and engages in campus, regional, and national professional organizations and collaborative activities. Expected to be professionally active and represent the Library and the University in academic, scholarly, and professional community. Required Education and Experience: Master’s degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited Library school and two years of related experience. In selected instances, a post-graduate degree in a related discipline may be required or substituted for an MLS. Appointment to this rank is limited to three years at which time it is expected that the individual will develop necessary requirements to meet expectations of performance at the Librarian 3 level. Required Skills & Abilities: Appointment to Librarian 3 rank requires a minimum of five (5) years of professional experience and professional accomplishments appropriate to the rank.
