Programming/Public Relations Manager - Bristol Public Library

Programming/Public Relations Manager - Bristol Public Library. Summary: Schedules and hosts programs for the Library that respond to customer and community demand. Assists with special events and promotions. Responsible for publicity and public relations. Develops, designs, and produces library newsletter, publicity materials, including but not limited to brochures, booklists and program flyers for distribution in paper electronic formats including social media outlets. Prepares library calendar for publication. Records statistics, evaluates programs, maintains budget including expenditures, contracts, and other receipts. Books meeting rooms and conducts library tours. Keeps calendar of all programs and meeting room bookings. Responsible for determining items placed on Public Library bulletin boards in accordance with policy. Generally assists throughout the library where needed. Work Schedule/Type: Full time position, 37½ hours per week, includes evening and weekend hours. Qualifications: Requires Masters Degree in Library Science from ALA accredited library school and 2 years experience in adult programming in a public library. Requires knowledge of modern principles and practices of programming for adults, public relations and publicity for public libraries, and effective written and oral communication skills. Familiarity of social media as it applies to libraries. Awareness of community resources and contacts. Must have effective public speaking skills. Expert skill and knowledge in Microsoft Office products. Requires ability to learn new software packages. Salary Range: $43,753 - $48,088/yr. Generous benefits. Public Services Librarian - Allen Music Library, University of Hartford, West Hartford

Public Services Librarian - Allen Music Library, University of Hartford, West Hartford. Position Summary: Provides formal and informal bibliographic instruction to students, faculty and staff. Supervises circulation, reserves, stack maintenance and equipment operations in the music/dance library. Assists library patrons in their research using print, online and audiovisual resources in music and dance. Recommends public service policies for the Allen Library to Head of Allen Library and Mortensen Library's Head of Reference and Public Services. This regular full-time exempt position may work evenings and/or rotate weekends. Key Responsibilities: Assists students and other library patrons in making the best use of print, electronic, and audiovisual music, dance, and other performing arts resources in a wide array of languages and formats and responds to questions. Recruits, trains, and evaluates staff who provide reference and information service to library patrons. Helps devise and implement public service policies, procedures, new services, and marketing strategies in consultation or collaboration with the Head of Allen Library and the Mortensen Library's Head of Reference and Public Services. Assists the Head of the Allen Library in identifying priorities, goals, strategies, and direction of Allen Library. Plans and presents instructional classes on information resources to students, faculty and staff. Administers the HLM 020 online information literacy course. Maintains print manuals and online information. Supervises the Allen Library circulation department, including circulation services, course reserves, stack maintenance, and equipment. Supervises one full-time assistant plus student employees. Monitors the student employee budget in an effort to ensure prudent fiscal management. Updates and maintains the Allen Library web pages in conjunction with the University Libraries Web Applications Developer and Technology Specialist to enhance usability, promote library offerings, and ensure maintenance is in compliance with University standards and University Libraries policies. Helps develop, enhance, and/or test information search tools. Provides recommendations for title development of the print and online reference collection and assists in the overall maintenance of the collection. Maintains awareness of trends and advances in the field through attendance at relevant meetings or seminars as well as through regular examination of literature in the field. Participates in relevant professional organizations. Serves on internal and external committees as appropriate. Maintains statistics and develops accurate reports for the Head of the Allen Library. Performs other related duties as assigned. Indicates an "essential" job function. Formal Education: Bachelor's Degree required with a major in music and Master's Degree of Library Science from an A.L.A. accredited institution required (or recognized equivalents). Work Experience: 1 year to < 2 years. Knowledge & Skills: Professional Skills: Requires knowledge of theories and practices of a professional field. This level of skill is typically reserved for an individual with a four-year degree, or a high-level vocational skill demonstrated by a number of years of on-the-position experience (i.e. management). Writes reports using technical data requiring considerable interpretation, developing new methods and procedures. Frequently applies knowledge to practical issues and problems. Library Assistant Computer Services: Social Media - Easton Public Library is offering a challenging and rewarding position. The library assistant will provide expertise in the implementation and maintenance of the library’s social media program, website and public relations in order to emphasize library services that are available to our patrons using both traditional and virtual communication outlets. Duties include: social media programs and website implementation and maintenance; create original content for social media, website, press releases, online newsletters, brochures, flyers, etc., train/instruct patrons (one-on-one or as a group) and staff in the use of emerging technologies, (including downloading e-books, audiobooks, online databases, and use of electronic devices such as tablets and e-readers) and computer equipment and software including OPAC and internet searching, work at circulation desk. Minimum qualifications include: Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in current and emerging technologies; strong writing and good editorial judgment; adept at identifying and crafting content; ability to learn new technologies quickly and autonomously; ability to acquire and keep current skill with new virtual trends and technologies in libraries; instructional skills and experience; ability to give clear presentations; team player who is innovative and adaptable; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, associates, subordinates and the general public. Bachelor’s Degree in computer studies, marketing or a related field and two years experience working in libraries or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides a demonstrated potential for performing the duties of the position. Young Adult Librarian - New Canaan Library

Young Adult Librarian - New Canaan Library. The young adult librarian is passionate about connecting and building relationships with adolescents in order to spark curiosity, fuel discussion and enrich lives through the collections, services and programs of the library. This is a permanent, full time position with one weekend day and one evening per week serving the youth (13-18) of our community. The position reports to the executive director and is a member of the leadership team. New Canaan Library serves a community of 20,000 about 1 hour from NYC in Fairfield County Connecticut. Role Purpose: This position is responsible for the planning, delivery and evaluation of programs and services that meet the expressed and anticipated needs of our young adult community. Responsibilities: Actively participate in long range strategic planning for all of library as well as youth area; Advocate for youth in the library; Develop and grow an active teen advisory group; Create and contribute to services, programs and collections that attract an increasing number of targeted clientele (13-18 year olds); Collaborate with colleagues in the Children’s and Adult services teams; Feed in to collection manager to develop the YA collections; Seek out and form partnerships with other relevant organizations in the local community; Maintain the teen area of library website; Develop a productive relationship with the local school librarians; Set goals, measure impact, for long term programming and services; Provide information and readers advisory to target group; Coordinate any volunteers in the YA area; Lead and participate in project teems; Develop and maintain clear documentation for all programs and services; Meet negotiated timelines and deadlines; Create collateral to promote programs and services using relevant tools. Outreach and Instruction Librarian - Quinnipiac University, Hamden. Responsibilities: The Arnold Bernhard Library is seeking an energetic, creative, and service-oriented librarian for the position of Outreach and Instruction Librarian. Reporting to the Director of the Library, the successful candidate will provide leadership in the development and execution of library outreach, liaison program and marketing efforts. This position calls for collaboration with other faculty and university colleagues in the design, delivery, and assessment of our information literacy program. He/she will participate in all aspects of library instructional services, including face-to-face teaching and the creation of course-specific resources, guides, online tutorials, and web pages for use in both traditional and virtual environments that meet student learning needs. The successful candidate will participate in the development and assessment of library instructional activities and programs, often incorporating new technologies into the instruction process. In addition, he/she will provide research assistance to students and faculty at the reference desk. As a member of the Public Services professional team, this librarian participates in library planning and policy implementation, serves on library and university committees, and participates in projects to develop and improve library services. The successful candidate will possess a strong commitment to teaching and library outreach. Responsibilities include some weekend and evening hours. Qualifications: ALA accredited MLS degree. Minimum of two years’ experience in an academic setting and instructional experience, especially in the area of information literacy or e-learning approaches.
