The Yale University Cushing/Whitney Medical Library invites applications for the position of Biomedical Sciences Research Support Librarian. This position serves as the primary liaison between the Library and research departments, laboratories, and individual scientists within the Medical Center, and is pivotal to defining and expanding the Library’s role in supporting e-Science and biomedical research data management. Required Education, Skills and Experience: Minimum of a Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited library school or a post-graduate degree in a related discipline. Demonstrated understanding of the work of laboratory scientists, of the scientific processes they apply, and of the impact and potential of e-Science methodologies upon their research. Demonstrated skill using a wide range of bibliographic databases in the health and life sciences, including the full suite of NCBI databases and resources as well as other core bioinformatics tools. Demonstrated creativity and flexibility, with the ability to conceptualize and conceive new solutions to researchers’ information and data problems; demonstrated ability to develop and grow a customer base through the creation, enhancement and provision of user-centered services. Applications are invited for two post-doctoral associates in the newly formed Center for STEM Learning at the University of Colorado, Boulder. The successful candidates will work on educational transformation through a project focused on institution wide transformation, sponsored by the American Association of Universities. The overall project seeks to promote the use of research based instructional and assessment strategies. Responsibilities will primarily center on supporting faculty in the change process by identifying appropriate material resources to support assessment of teaching in multiple STEM disciplines, working closely with department leads to provide professional consultations with participating faculty on the use of identified materials, supporting the implementation of assessment measures by managing data collection and analysis, and consulting with faculty to reflect on the results. Associates will also work with project staff to develop an online campus-wide, potentially national, portal to assist faculty in finding libraries of educational measures, easing use of such measures and sharing results. Opportunities will also exist for working toward promoting the use of evidence-based measures of teaching impact and conducting research on the process of institutional transformation. The Fellows will collaborate with a broad group of engaging and nationally renowned faculty, post-docs, and graduate students across multiple STEM departments at the University of Colorado. The overall project also includes studies of institutional transformation, and provides opportunities for postdocs to participate in studies of individual and institutional uptake of new assessment tools and practices.
Qualifications: The successful candidates will have a strong disciplinary background in a STEM area and extensive experience in education research. Experience in physics, biology or mechanical engineering is a plus as these are the initial departments on the project. The appointment is a one-year, renewable appointment with the preference that the successful candidate will be able to commit to the project for 2 years. The salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.

Educational Testing Service (ETS) is seeking Test Assessment Specialist in the area of Science for our San Antonio, TX location. The Test Assessment Specialist-Science will be responsible for developing test and related products in science and science education. They will also be focused on assembling tests or pools of questions to meet specification. BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Test Creation
o Write and review items for a variety of science tests, including tests used for college and graduate school admission; gather and resolve feedback from multiple sources on items; evaluate item acceptability after testing.
o Participate in constructed-response scoring activities, including work with faculty consultants or state department staff.
o Recruit, train, mentor, and manage outside item writers; help develop item writer training materials; assist with facilitation of item writer training meetings.
