Job Title: Worship Leader

Job Description: Journey Christian Church is looking to fill a part-time paid worship leader position, primarily responsible for leading music with the praise band on Sunday mornings, and leading the congregation in worship. We are looking for a man who is able to commit to at least a two-year period.

Goals of the Worship Leader
A faithful worship leader magnifies the greatness of God in Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit by skillfully combining God’s Word with music, thereby motivating the gathered church to proclaim the gospel, to cherish God’s presence and to live for God’s glory.

Basic Characteristics of the Worship Leader
· He must be theologically aligned with Journey Christian Church.
· He is in full and enthusiastic support of the vision and style of Journey Christian Church.
· Must have leadership skills (to lead the congregation, to lead the team)
· He has training in music and has experience leading congregational worship.
· He is growing as a follower of Jesus Christ.
· He is able to put in at least 15-25 hours a week (this includes Sunday morning hours).


Responsibilities of the Worship Leader
· He will be the primary leader of worship through music on Sunday morning, and the core of this responsibility will be leading the Praise Band.
· He will work alongside of and report to the Lead Pastor.
· He will recruit and evaluate new members for the Praise Band.
· He will coordinate practices for the Praise Band.
· He will be a member of the Worship Service Planning Team (once a month meeting).
· He will create a Journey feel / expression.
· He will shepherd the Praise Band members and other musicians toward humble serving.

· He is able to adapt to different themes on Sunday mornings.
· He is knowledgeable of, comfortable with, and committed to the contemporary and traditional music of the church.
· He is effective in planning and being Spirit-led in leading music.
· He is skilled in working with other team members, providing spiritual and musical leadership.

Information about the Church: Journey Christian Church is a non-denominational church with about 300 in attendance on Sunday morning. Our worship style is contemporary, but we are committed to using hymns as part of our worship.
