Children’s Librarian - East Hampton Public Library

Children’s Librarian - East Hampton Public Library is seeking an individual with demonstrated supervisory experience and familiarization with the operation of children’s library services. This is a full-time position. Duties include, but are not limited to planning, developing and executing programs designed to interest children; provide outreach and in-library services; supervise staff and volunteers; prepare statistics, reports, publicity requests and work circulation desk as needed. Position requires strong knowledge of technology frameworks used to deliver library services in a growing community with changing needs. Strong interpersonal skills with all age groups are essential. Two years in a lead role delivering public services with MLS or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Young Adult Librarian - New Canaan Library

Young Adult Librarian - New Canaan Library. The young adult librarian is passionate about connecting and building relationships with adolescents in order to spark curiosity, fuel discussion and enrich lives through the collections, services and programs of the library. This is a permanent, full time position with one weekend day and one evening per week serving the youth (13-18) of our community. The position reports to the executive director and is a member of the leadership team. New Canaan Library serves a community of 20,000 about 1 hour from NYC in Fairfield County Connecticut. Role Purpose: This position is responsible for the planning, delivery and evaluation of programs and services that meet the expressed and anticipated needs of our young adult community. Responsibilities: Actively participate in long range strategic planning for all of library as well as youth area; Advocate for youth in the library; Develop and grow an active teen advisory group; Create and contribute to services, programs and collections that attract an increasing number of targeted clientele (13-18 year olds); Collaborate with colleagues in the Children’s and Adult services teams; Feed in to collection manager to develop the YA collections; Seek out and form partnerships with other relevant organizations in the local community; Maintain the teen area of library website; Develop a productive relationship with the local school librarians; Set goals, measure impact, for long term programming and services; Provide information and readers advisory to target group; Coordinate any volunteers in the YA area; Lead and participate in project teems; Develop and maintain clear documentation for all programs and services; Meet negotiated timelines and deadlines; Create collateral to promote programs and services using relevant tools. Skills and attributes: Empathetic with a genuine interest in youth, and an understanding of adolescent development; Develops rapport easily with teens; Focused on excellent user experiences for adolescents in the library environment ( physical and virtual); Fluent user of social media; Excellent communications skills; Confident and capable user of internet/communications technologies; Deep and broad knowledge of YA literature; Agile, able to adapt easily to a changing environment and work on multiple projects simultaneously; Confident, outgoing and self motivated; Personal commitment to ongoing professional development and expertise in youth librarianship including currency on youth services in libraries; Confident and effective public speaker; Both participates in and leads in-house professional development with colleagues. The next Executive Director will provide leadership, management and growth of the organization—creating a framework for expanding Bibliomation’s services into new markets, undertake strategic planning and budget development, and work with current members (and potential new members) to increase statewide resource sharing. Chief Executive Officer - Providence Public Library (RI). The Library Board seeks an engaged, energetic leader to serve as Chief Executive Officer—finalizing and implementing a new strategic plan—to build on its outstanding service programs and achieve further levels of excellence. Responsibilities. Reporting to the Providence Public Library Board of Trustees, the CEO serves as the leader of the Library and is its primary public representative. The CEO works in partnership with the Board to ensure that the Library fulfills its mission and creates the strategies that will secure its future success. The Ohio State University at Newark invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Physics beginning Fall 2014. Duties include teaching approximately 18 credit hours on a semester calendar, with particular responsibility for lower-level courses in physics and closely related fields, research in accordance with the expectations of the Department of Physics, and service to the department and campus. Commitment to outreach to local and regional communities is preferred. Qualifications include a PhD in physics, the ability to produce research publishable in physics journals and a documented record of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level. Part Time Young Adult Librarian - Old Lyme Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library is seeking a creative, energetic Librarian who is proficient with current technologies, excels at outreach and programming for young teens. This individual will have primary responsibility for the development and delivery of Young Adult Services (grades 6-12) including collection development, program planning, outreach to students via the local school district and youth organizations, and policy development. Additional responsibilities include reference and readers’ advisory assistance, bibliographic instruction, computer assistance as well as supervision of after school users on an individual or group basis. The Young Adult Librarian works cooperatively with the full time Children’s Librarian in support of all Children’s Services. This position requires participation once a month in the Saturday rotation at the Adult Services Desk. Performs other duties as required. This is a part time position of 20 hours. Required: ALA-MLS; public library experience with teens and adults preferred. Knowledge of integrated library systems, III’s Sierra preferred. Ability to work in a dynamic team environment, to adapt to changing needs and resources, manage multiple responsibilities and assist with projects as needed. Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills required. Knowledge of the Microsoft software suite, Word Press and basic Html code preferred. Outreach and Instruction Librarian - Quinnipiac University, Hamden. Responsibilities: The Arnold Bernhard Library is seeking an energetic, creative, and service-oriented librarian for the position of Outreach and Instruction Librarian. Reporting to the Director of the Library, the successful candidate will provide leadership in the development and execution of library outreach, liaison program and marketing efforts. This position calls for collaboration with other faculty and university colleagues in the design, delivery, and assessment of our information literacy program. He/she will participate in all aspects of library instructional services, including face-to-face teaching and the creation of course-specific resources, guides, online tutorials, and web pages for use in both traditional and virtual environments that meet student learning needs. The successful candidate will participate in the development and assessment of library instructional activities and programs, often incorporating new technologies into the instruction process. In addition, he/she will provide research assistance to students and faculty at the reference desk. As a member of the Public Services professional team, this librarian participates in library planning and policy implementation, serves on library and university committees, and participates in projects to develop and improve library services. The successful candidate will possess a strong commitment to teaching and library outreach. Responsibilities include some weekend and evening hours. Qualifications: ALA accredited MLS degree.
