Library Director - Northfield Mount Hermon (MA). Full Time, Academic Year. NMH seeks a dynamic individual to serve as Library Director to lead and oversee all aspects of the school’s library. Reporting to the Dean of Faculty, the Director works closely with NMH program leaders and the Director of Academic Technology to ensure the library’s academic and technical resources adequately support and advance the school’s educational program. The Library Director is responsible for working with faculty and staff to develop and implement instructional design solutions for the classroom. The Director provides leadership and administrative oversight in all areas of the library, including budgeting, acquisitions, collection development, research and instruction. The ideal candidate actively promotes, through the support of teachers and students, critical thinking and innovation within the curriculum. Candidates should possess a masters in Library Sciences, a minimum of five years of experience demonstrating progressive professional growth in a secondary school library or similar setting, and at least two to three years of supervisory experience. The successful candidate must possess a demonstrated interest and skill in the area of emerging technologies and experience working effectively in a highly collaborative, process-oriented setting. A Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program is required. Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited institution and a strong commitment to public services. Library Technician IV: Access Services (Nights/Weekends Days) - University of Bridgeport Wahlstrom Library. Job Summary: The Library Technician IV works under the direction of the University Librarian to perform support duties across multiple functions, including interlibrary loan, circulation, technical processing, serials, instruction, shelf maintenance, etc. Responsible for learning advanced procedures as Library increases electronic services and resources. Must possess good customer service orientation and strong interpersonal skills in dealing with patrons and other coworkers. Must be skilled in generating electronic reports of user services. Duties and Responsibilities: Assist patrons in use of Library resources and services and software on Library computers. Assist patrons printing, scanning, copying or needing Projectors/TVs/VCRs. Maintain Room Scheduling Calendar and manage Room Use/Policies daily. Train and Coordinate activities of student workers. Check In and Check Out of Library Resources. Assist patrons with Renewals, Process overdues, late fine and fee resolution and communicate all changes of system fees with University Librarian and other Library staff. Process acquisition/reserve items using appropriate system and tools. Affix labels and anti-theft strips to materials. Generate reports, keep statistics daily. Utilize all relevant functions in ExLibris Library system, including Voyager Acquisitions, Circulation, and Web Voyage, Metalib, SFX, and Primo. Process patron requests for interlibrary loan when needed. Participate in developing new, more efficient workflow and policies. Participate in staff meetings representing student issues. Communicate patron requests and complaints to University Librarian. Shelve and straighten materials, shifting when necessary. Create written procedures when requested. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Qualifications: 2 years of college and 2 years appropriate experience in a Library. Excellent keyboarding skills; demonstrated basic knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook. Demonstrated mastery of basic computer operations, including internet navigation skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to make steady progress on large tasks weekly. Attention to detail; production of high quality, accurate work. Demonstrated ability to work in teams, be flexible and acquire new skills independently. Must be able to lift 30 pounds and work around dust and mold. Strong service orientation. Information Literacy Program Internship - Fairfield University DiMenna-Nyselius Library

Information Literacy Program Internship - Fairfield University DiMenna-Nyselius Library, Spring 2014. Description of Program: In concert with the mission of Fairfield University, the DiMenna-Nyselius Library Instruction Program seeks to develop information-literate lifelong learners. We define information literacy as the ability to recognize when information is needed; to effectively locate and organize information while considering the myriad of information sources and formats available; to logically and critically evaluate and assimilate information while seeking objective truth and personal meaning; to synthesize and use information to communicate conclusions persuasively; and to apply these skills ethically and legally throughout life, with a sense of social responsibility. Qualifications: Interns must be currently enrolled in a graduate level Library and Information Science or School Media program. Relevant class work in reference or instruction preferred. Description of Internship: The Intern will play an active role in our Information Literacy Program. The Intern will: Work closely with the Instruction Coordinator to design and deliver approximately 8-10 library instruction classes. The exact number and types of classes will be determined through careful review of the Intern’s experience and interests, as well as our Program’s needs. Have the opportunity to observe seasoned instruction librarians, and receive substantive feedback on content and delivery of instruction, work collaboratively with faculty on lesson plans, depending on experience, career interests, and need. The Intern could also produce a project related to our instruction program. The Intern would work closely with the Instruction Coordinator on such a project, meet regularly with the Instruction Coordinator for ongoing feedback and discussion. Depending on experience, previous coursework, and interest, readings and discussions of information literacy related readings may be included. This internship is an excellent opportunity to work in an academic environment, learn about Information Literacy Standards in theory and in practice, and gain valuable instruction experience. Traveling Archivist - Connecticut State Library

Traveling Archivist - Connecticut State Library. This is a part-time, grant funded, contracted position based out of the Connecticut State Library. Reporting to the Project Director, the Traveling Archivist is part of a National Historical Publications and Records Commission [NHPRC] SNAP grant project intended to encourage best practices in the management, arrangement, preservation, and access of archival collections held in museums, historical societies, archives and libraries in the state. The Traveling Archivist will be responsible for conducting half-day site visits throughout the state as well as attending a 3-part workshop series on archival management and arrangement. Key duties and responsibilities: assist in promoting the Traveling Archivist Program; assist in reviewing applications, selecting participants and arranging site visits; conduct 34 half-day on-site visits to instruct institutional staff and volunteers in archival best practices, including management, arrangement, description, preservation and access; assist in the creation of forms and hand-outs to aid institutions after the site visit to continue to be able to implement the recommendations made by the Traveling Archivist; prepare a written report for each site visit; conduct a three month follow-up via phone/email; and prepare a final summary report on site visits. Qualifications: bachelors or master’s degree in Library/Archival Science, Public History, or other related field; strong knowledge of archival principles and practices; knowledge and familiarity of mid-size and emerging cultural heritage institutions; a working knowledge of the operations of collecting institutions, understanding of collections preservation standards; experience in providing training in archival practices; minimum 3-5 years professional experience required; excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated project management skills; proficient computer skills required (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel); in-state travel required; must have a car. The start date is January 1, 2014. The grant funding currently in place is scheduled to end June 30, 2014, although an extension to June 30, 2015 will be sought and is expected.
