Research Support and Instruction Librarian - Connecticut College, New London

Research Support and Instruction Librarian - Connecticut College, New London. Connecticut College, a highly selective private liberal arts college, located in the historic seaport of New London, seeks an experienced librarian to provide instructional and research resources and develop and initiate activities to integrate information literacy into the curriculum at the College. This position will also provide reference services for the faculty, students, scholars and other patrons, supporting their instructional and scholarly needs. S/he will provide professional leadership in the design, provision and use of library materials; assist, advise and instruct faculty and students in the access and use of scholarly information; liaison to social science academic departments providing research instruction and discipline-specific reference assistance to faculty and students within the departments; develop library print and digital instructional materials; collaborate with faculty and colleagues to plan sessions for course-integrated library instruction and develop supporting materials and guides; participate in the planning and organization and development/promotion of the government documents collection; maintain statistics and prepare reports for federal and state document programs; lead and participate in projects and initiatives in support of research and instruction services; contribute to the library profession through scholarship, participation in professional associations, and other forms of service. Masters degree in library or information studies from an accredited institution with 3-5 years of relevant experience required; advanced subject degree desirable. Must have the ability to build and sustain key relationships with faculty, students and professional colleagues; excellent understanding of trends affecting academic librarianship; demonstrated knowledge of the changes in government publication practices, specifically when working with digital government materials; computer skills in the use of an integrated library system, information databases and standard productivity software; some weekend and evening reference hours may be required on occasion. Circulation Supervisor - Groton Public Library. We are seeking a candidate with strong communication, customer service and team building skills to manage a busy circulation desk and full-time and part-time staff. The Assistant Librarian – Circulation is responsible for the circulation of library materials and for the supervision and training of circulation staff, preparation of financial and statistical reports, supervision of stack management and participation in collection development and library programming. Demonstrated experience with an automated circulation system, preferably SIRSI, and proficiency in the use of computers, especially Word and Excel is required. This position reports to the Manager of Library Technical Services & Circulation ; full time, 35 hours/week, evenings and Saturdays included. BA/BS degree plus two years’ experience in a public library, preferably in Circulation. $25.14/hr. Director of Library and Information Services (LIS), Academic Affairs - Mitchell College (New London) is currently seeking a Director of Library and Information Services to provide the oversight, vision and leadership for Library and Information Services (LIS), which extends both throughout and beyond the institution. The Director will be responsible for the delivery of services and ensuring a supportive and collaborative environment that enables the members of the campus community to access and use information resources and technologies confidently in teaching, learning, research, administration, and outreach. The Director must support the College’s mission and values, encouraging a strong service orientation on the part of the Library and Information Services team for building working relationships campus-wide. Five years of supervisory, administrative, and management experience in a higher education library setting blending traditional services and an educational technology component. Knowledge of current issues and trends in academic information services such as instructional technology and design, assessment, copyright and fair use, and scholarly communication. Part-Time Reference Librarian - Public Library of New London

Part-Time Reference Librarian - Public Library of New London. The position of reference librarian is now open at the Public Library of New London. This is a part-time position of 19 hours a week, with a variable schedule that includes daytime and evening hours and Saturdays in rotation. The person holding this position oversees collection development, is responsible for the Non Profit Resource Center and serves as the library webmaster. Other responsibilities include staffing a busy reference desk, promoting community outreach and programming. MLS/MLIS degree, public library experience, and a thorough knowledge of Word Press website software or other similar website maintenance programs are required for this position. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary. Salary range is $20-$22 an hour, depending on experience. There are no benefits with this position.
