Assistant Zoo Keepers
POST GRADUATES - FIVE SISTER’S ZOO ARE LOOKING FOR YOU
LONG TERM VOLUNTEERING WORK PLACEMENTS (6-12 MONTHS) Unpaid x 3 – Assistant Zoo Keeper’s
This is an exciting new project that the Five Sister’s Zoo is offering, internal training shall be provided.
We are ideally looking for you to be able to volunteer 4 days out of 7 - (hours are from 8am-4.30pm)
We are seeking x 3 bubbly, bright, conscientious, enthusiastic & flexible individuals, who are passionate about their work, polite, who can communicate effectively with all levels of staff, volunteers & members of the general public.
- The ideal candidate should be proactive and able to use their own initiative
Assist animal keepers with feeding, cleaning, exhibit preparation and renovation, plant care, and observing animals
Provide formal and informal interpretive educational programs for visitors
Help implement animal enrichment programs
Learn and follow animal/keeper safety guidelines, operations and polices
QUALIFICATIONS
- Preference will be given to graduate students pursuing a career in a related field
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment with staff, other interns and volunteers
- Must enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions, be physically fit and be able to lift at least 50 pounds
- A trial working day is required prior to applicant acceptance into the program. This assures that the internship activities are understood by the selectee and will meet their educational goals
The Five Sister’s Zoo is looking to appoint ASAP. We are hoping to interview before the end of the year. However, positions shall stay open until they are filled. Purpose of the position
To ensure the exchange of product-related information between US company, international company, series planning department, operations department, and logistics adn to ensure proper PDCA implementation and communication in a controlled and standardized approach for product, process, and people related changes resulting from product and/or process change and cotinuous improvement activities.
Essential functions
Review new product design and calculate costs for changes within series production for presentation to managemetn decision approval board.
Prepare planning options, evaluate cost-efficiency, and provide analysis of both via detailed business case studies for management approval.
Check feasibility of product changes and coordinate implementation in trials and/or series production on schedule, including but no limited to, additional process steps, line or manpower balance, fixtures, material handling aids, part presentation, error-proofing, ergonimics, and training.
Support material handling on the shop floor to verify plannign and any process concerns during null series production trials, launch, and change implementation through the use of, but not limited to, time studies, ergonomic analysis, layout reviews or revisions, business case studies, and manpower planning/verification.
Perform time studies based on MTM process for all material handling processes to be used to determine headcount planning for delivery routes and part receiving.
Align and track delivery method changes within series planning and logistic operations.
Maintain part bill of material with all relevant logistic data in conjuction with new type planning.
Support CI ideas and activities with material handling to ensure achievement of goals.
Work in project groups and/or coordinate projects to implement company world wide standards.
Procure from and/or exchange information with partners/colleagues int he plant, logistics service provider, suppliers, and various departments.
Organize internal and external meetings to clarify definition of problems, identify root cause, implement countermeasures, and report findings.

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering / Process Engineering preferred.
Experience
Three years minimum relevant professional experience

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for ensuring our customers including contract employees, client managers and local sales teams receive superior customer service and administrative support. Specific responsibilities include:
Providing outstanding front office customer service (telephone and reception area)
Hand outs application and/or orientation packets and verifies information for accuracy
Maintains drug testing process (setting up employee for the clinic, logging and updating office report, email/communicating results to the office)
Alphabetize and submit timecards to corporate office for Automated Hours Collection System exception accounts
Processing of payroll checks (sort, stuff, and mail)
File and maintain all office paperwork
Maintaining adequate levels of Pre Employment Packets
Assist with data entry of personal data updates, starts and finishes in PeopleSoft
Processing orientation paperwork to Human Resources Department
Timely processing of Tax Credit Forms and other state required forms
Maintaining adequate levels of administrative support to all internal and external employees
Maintain and organize all office supplies

Have a sound knowledge, experience and understanding of ‘positive reinforcement’ animal training.
Some knowledge and experience with large Hoofstock would be preferable.
Ensure the delivery of agreed ‘Xtra Adventure’ activities.
Business acumen with some budgetary experience if possible.
Develop methods to encourage/increase Adventurer dwell time in the Zoo areas of the Resort.
