Job Summary/Basic Function: The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, the School of Education, and the Department of Educational Studies invites applications for an Assistant Professor, full time academic year, tenure-track position with expertise in elementary science instruction to begin Fall 2014. We seek colleagues who share the department's commitment to diversity and are dedicated teacher educators, active scholars, and mentors for students. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate courses in preparation of teacher candidates for elementary science methodology and other STEM connections. Qualified candidates will also be responsible for student advisement, supervision of field experiences, engagement in research, and participation in service activities. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence as a teacher and advisor as well as develop an active research program.

This position includes teaching 12 credit hours per semester. The Teacher Education Program espouses an inclusive philosophy and provides preparation in general classroom and special education teaching licensures from birth through early adolescence. Successful candidates will bring knowledge and expertise in elementary science instructional methodologies, with preference given to those who also possess knowledge &/or expertise in elementary instructional methodologies in mathematics, literacy, and diversity-related topics, and/or other elementary content instruction. Knowledge and/or expertise in Professional Learning Communities (PLC), differentiation, progress monitoring, edTPA, and/or supervision of instruction are also preferred qualities.

A person in this position will prepare and teach 2-4 course preparations each semester. A person in this position will be expected to be fully engaged in a program of scholarly activity, including but not limited to presentations at conferences and publications in scholarly journals. A person in this position will be expected to participate in service activities at the Department, School of Education, and University levels.

Required qualifications: Ph.D./Ed.D. in elementary science education or related field by date of appointment and a minimum of three successful years of teaching experience in American public/private K-8 school settings.

Preferred qualifications: knowledge &/or expertise in elementary instructional methodologies in technology, social studies, mathematics, foundations, literacy, and/or diversity-related topics, and/or other elementary content instruction, experience with supervision of instruction, Professional Development Schools (PDS), progress monitoring, differentiated instruction, Professional Learning Communities (PLC), edTPA, blended learning, and an interest in student research.

FT Lecturer at UW-La Crosse

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, College of Science and Health, Department of Physics, invites applicants for an instructional academic staff position of Lecturer in Physics Education to start in August, 2014.
The UW-L Department of Physics has expanded in the direction of teacher education. We have recently introduced a physics education major with teacher certification, and we are excited to recruit a colleague to assist in these efforts.
Duties/Responsibilities: (1) teach a variety of introductory physics courses for science and education students; (2) contribute to the further development of the university's science education programs; (3) supervise pre-service teachers; and (4) become actively engaged with K-12 schools.
Required Qualifications: (1) an Ed.D. or Ph.D. in Science Education or related field, with a strong academic background in physical science; (2) a minimum of 3 years experience teaching science at the middle school and secondary level in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications: a B.S. in physics or related field.

TT, Science Education, Michigan Tech


Applications are invited for a tenure-track position in Science Education. PhD in Science Education required. Desirable qualifications include: specialization in science education; teaching experience at the secondary school level; experience with and/or interest in leading teacher professional development; interest in scholarly collaboration with faculty in teacher education and STEM disciplines. The successful candidate will have an active research program, a commitment to attracting external funding and mentoring graduate students, and a record of excellence in teaching. Appointment is anticipated at the rank of assistant professor, although highly qualified candidates may be considered for appointment at the rank of associate professor.

The Division of Teacher Education, housed within the Department of Cognitive and Learning Sciences, offers secondary school teacher certification and a MS program in Applied Science Education. Teacher certification is offered in biology, chemistry, physics, Earth science, and integrated science, along with mathematics, social studies and English. Education faculty are engaged in a number of NSF-funded projects related to the teaching and learning of science and mathematics, including a Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program (see http://www.mtu.edu/cls/research/projects/). Teaching loads and salary are highly competitive. New faculty benefit from a supportive, collegial environment and a mentoring program.

Director of Teacher Education/STEM, Unity College

Unity College seeks a dynamic STEM educator to serve as Director of Teacher Education for one of Maines top science teacher certification programs. This is a 9 month appointment at the assistant, associate or full professor level. The successful candidate will provide leadership in the development of a Masters degree in Sustainability Science Education.

Required qualifications are a terminal degree in curriculum and instruction, science education or a related field and a minimum of 3 years experience teaching 7-12 science. The ideal candidate will also have a commitment to sustainability education, strong content background in life or physical sciences, experience teaching with technology, distance education and graduate programs. Experience with environmental education, adventure education, or teaching in informal settings is a plus. Teaching responsibilities will include graduate and undergraduate classes in methods of teaching science, instruction and assessment, and additional courses in areas of expertise, possibly including science content courses. The Department of Natural Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences at Clayton State University is seeking applicants for an Assistant Professor of Science Education or a Lecturer of Science Education. The successful candidate will meet the following:

Required qualifications for the position:
  • Degree qualifications:
    • For Assistant Professor (tenure track): Earned doctorate in Science Education, Chemistry, Geology or Physics and 18 graduate hours in Chemistry, Geology, or Physics (ABD candidates will be considered).
      • OR
