The Primary Task of the Youth Director:

Work in partnership with the Diaconate Board to effectively reach youth in the community and develop a strategic youth ministry outreach plan.
Keep records of youth participation and manage the youth ministry budget.

Communicate in a timely manner and as effectively as possible using all available resources (email, website, bulletin, newsletter, bulletin board, etc.). Ensure communication with church staff and leadership, parents, and the congregation as a whole.

Be available to youth in a variety of ways (Youth outings, ministry activities, visitation and times of crisis)

Qualifications and Aptitudes:

Must have vision and a demonstrated ability to plan, develop, coordinate, manage and implement a youth ministry.

Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, conflict management skills and computer skills.

Must possess a proven ability to work effectively with youth, parents and the Pastor.

Job Description:
The Associate Pastor / Director of Student Ministries is a member of the professional staff of the church and the position is a full-time position.  This person is responsible to plan, organize and administer a high school and middle school youth ministry that is fully integrated within the congregational life of the church. Leading the volunteer youth ministry staff, this individual will develop a student ministry which incorporates a healthy blend and balance of worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, and mission that is distinct and at the same time fully integrated with the doctrinal beliefs and multigenerational life, vision and ministry of Goshen Baptist Church.

Accountability

Accountability to the church is through the Church Elders and Deacons and is implemented under the direction of the Senior Pastor.  This position reports directly to the Senior Pastor.

Spiritual Prerequisites

The Youth Pastor / Director of Student Ministries must have strong, deeply rooted doctrinal beliefs and ministry values that are consistent with those of Goshen Baptist Church as stated in the Church Covenant, Confession of Faith, and Philosophy of Worship. Specifically, this individual must believe the following points of doctrine (which serve to summarize the content of the GBC Confession of Faith):

A.      The Bible is the authoritative Word of God, inerrant in the original manuscripts.
B.      The triune Godhead in Three Persons:  Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
C.      The deity of Jesus Christ, his virgin birth, sinless life, death, and bodily resurrection.
D.      Man is a sinner by nature and choice and therefore is spiritually dead apart from Christ.
E.      Salvation is by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
F.      The everlasting blessing of the saved and the everlasting punishment of the unsaved.
G.      Christ’s commission to the church to go into all the world and preach the gospel message.

Responsibilities

A.      Plan and direct all aspects of the high school and middle school ministries with the goal of discipling and evangelizing students within the church and in the community.
B.      This position requires both regular office hours and varying amounts of time spent out of the office ministering to youth.
C.      Recruit, train and supervise the volunteer leadership staff working with and teaching high school and middle school students.  Serve as primary high school Sunday school teacher.
D.      Foster spiritual growth through small groups within the youth ministry of GBC.
E.      Organize, plan, and promote times of fellowship and activities for students and their families, such as retreats, conferences and other events, for the purpose of spiritual growth.
F.      Provide timely advisories, communicate to, and involve parents of youth in the activities of the ministry, and seek to integrate new youth and parents into the body of GBC.
G.      Be responsible to choose (including reviewing and recommending) the teaching curriculum for each of the student programs to ensure that it is in accord with the doctrinal beliefs of the Church.
H.      Serve actively within the overall ministry of GBC including being available to assist in congregational worship.
I.      Work to integrate students into congregational worship services and other areas of church life and ministries identified by the Senior Pastor and other ministry staff.  Growth and expansion of ministry responsibilities available in the future.
J.      Plan and organize events with other local churches and youth groups.
K.      Submit a yearly statement of goals and objectives in accordance with Procedure 1040 – Performance Review of Professional Staff
L.      Be responsible for involving youth with local, national, and international mission trips.

Qualifications & Skills

A.      Has a clear calling from God into student ministries.
B.      Has a bachelor’s degree (seminary degree preferred).
C.      Relevant youth ministry experience required.  Some mission experience is preferred.
D.      Possesses and is able to boldly communicate a passionate and dynamic faith.
E.      Has a comprehensive understanding of the Scriptures and is able to clearly communicate the biblical message to others in a variety of ways and settings including the appropriate use of social media.
F.      Has demonstrated administrative, team building, organizational, and professional skills.
G.      Is comfortable and capable in relating to a diverse group of youth and adults.

Overview

This man will be responsible to promote, develop, coordinate, oversee, and staff the youth and music ministries on a full-time, temporary basis, reporting to the pastoral staff.

Requirements

This man will ascribe to our church’s statement of faith, agree to live by our covenant, and agree to operate by our constitution. He will:

- demonstrate competency, spiritual giftedness, and desire especially in the ministry areas of youth and music.

- not carry the full responsibility of a pastorate (e.g., developing church mission and vision, providing pastoral care and visitation, conducting funerals). Yet, as a ministry leader, he will be expected to carry out personal spiritual disciplines and to demonstrate Christ-likeness in his relationships in the church body.

Youth Specifics

This man will lead the operation of the youth ministry in keeping with the church’s mission and at the direction of the pastoral staff. He will:

- involve himself in the teaching and mentoring of the church’s youth, and will choose or develop appropriate curriculum.

- involve volunteers in roles of teaching, mentoring, event planning, special projects, etc.

- team with current youth ministry volunteers to plan for camps, mission trips, and other special events for 2013-14.

- care for general administrative needs related to youth ministry.

- communicate on youth ministry information with the youth and their parents.

- conduct ministry with support for and coordination with Waterloo Christian School.

Music Specifics


This man will lead the operation of the music ministry in keeping with the church’s mission and at the direction of the pastoral staff. He will:

- lead music in weekly services.

- find volunteer musicians within the church body to contribute to weekly services (e.g., pianist, guitarist, backup vocalists, special music).

- lead musical and technical rehearsals for weekly services.

- select songs and prepare the flow of weekly services.

- produce sheet music for volunteer musicians in advance of rehearsals.

- care for general administrative needs related to music ministry.

Terms of Appointment

This is a full-time position.

This is a temporary position in which this man will serve through June 30th, 2014. The position may be extended by mutual arrangement.

This man will receive a salary commensurate with his experience but not to exceed associate-level salary.

The Youth/Young Adult Pastor should seek to define this ministry according to the following characteristics:
* Incurably Local by developing a ministry that the youth of Doylestown look to first when they are in need, especially the students and administration of  Central Bucks High School West and Lenape Middle School.
* Culturally Relevant  by showing compassion and humility to meet people precisely where they are; by communicating the gospel to them; by humbly accommodating them so as to earn a place to communicate Christ crucified to people in their current circumstances; and by not requiring people to accommodate to us (I Cor 9:22-23).
* Intergenerational by: 

     -Equipping and including permanent and activity-focused volunteer staff from a variety of older generations.
     -Encouraging and equipping those from older generations so that they can participate in 1x1or 2x1 discipling relationships with the Youth/Young Adults.
     -Organizing service activities for the Youth/Young Adults to assist older generations from the church and the Doylestown community.

Qualifications:
* Qualified as an elder as delineated in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
* The person who fills this position will join the First Baptist Church of Doylestown’s team of elders who are responsible for shepherding the entire church.  The uniqueness of this role is that he will have direct oversight of the youth and young adult population.

The person who fills this position must have:
* A Masters of Divinity degree.
* Sound knowledge of the Bible, theology, and doctrine and with the ability to communicate biblical truths to youth/young adults.
* An understanding of the psychological, emotional, social and spiritual development of youth and young adults from as young as grade 7.
* Basic counseling and conflict resolution skills and experience.
* A willingness to make a multi-year commitment to our church because continuity for our youth and young adults is highly valued.
* Previous experience working with youth, whether this was gained as a volunteer/intern while in college or as a part-time job or as a full-time ministry leader.

Job Title: Associate Pastor for Education and Youth

Job Description: We are looking for an Associate Pastor who will supervise and oversee many and varied Christian Education ministries of the church, especially those dealing with infants through high school age youth.  We want someone to join our team who will develop and lead ministers from within the congregation to use their gifts, talents, and energy to carry out ministries. The Associate will also engage in other general pastoral responsibilities, especially related to the areas of youth and education; there will be regular opportunities for teaching as well as occasional opportunities for preaching.

1. The Associate Pastor will supervise and oversee many and varied Christian Education ministries of the church, especially those dealing with infants through high school age youth. It is expected that the Associate will develop and lead ministers from within the congregation to use their gifts, talents, and energy to carry out the ministries.
These ministries may include, and are not limited to: 


  • Nursery
  • Children’s Church
  • Youth Groups
  • Vacation Bible School
  • Sunday School
  • Children’s Club Programs
  • Children’s and/or Youth Musical/Drama Programs Mission Teams/Outreach Opportunities
  • Family Christian Education Opportunities Summer Camp/Weekend Retreat Ministries

2. The Associate Pastor will be a member of and work closely with the Education Committee and will serve ex officio (with voice and vote) on each of the Education Committee’s task forces, subcommittees and/or ministry teams created by the Education Committee to carry out their work.

3. The Associate Pastor will engage in other general pastoral responsibilities, especially related to the areas of youth and education.


4. The Associate Pastor will subscribe without reservation to the church’s Statement of Faith and Church Covenant and will be in full agreement with Article 4 of the Church Constitution, which deals with church membership. In addition, he will embrace the church’s philosophy of ministry and values guiding our church’s leadership. Furthermore, he must agree to abide by the Baptist General Conference’s Code of Ministerial Ethics and shall also consider First Baptist Church the proper and legitimate caretaker of his ministerial credentials, including licensure and ordination.


5. The Associate Pastor must be willing to consider a long-term commitment to First Baptist Church of Sturgeon Bay. While a “guarantee” is not required, the expectation is that a long-term relationship is in view – perhaps at least five years.


Compensation
1. To enable maximum use of personal gifts and abilities for the good of the body of believers and to the glory of God, First Baptist Church will seek to meet the financial needs and obligations of the Associate Pastor with a fair and reasonable salary and benefits package. While the specific aspects of such a package are negotiable, the salary range is $40,000-$55,000 depending on experience and other considerations.
A compensation package will give fair consideration not only to salary and housing allowance, but also health insurance, retirement, time off (including vacation), and personal growth and development. In addition, the church shall consider proper reimbursement for ministerial expenses, including mileage, personal professional expenses and denominational participation.


2. The Associate Pastor and the Church board must exercise honesty and ethical integrity in dealing with the various issues of compensation. The Church Board will review and update specifics of the compensation package and will create a Pastoral Relations Committee to work with the Associate Pastor to help provide a healthy pastor-church relationship.

Description: GraceLife Church is growing and expanding our ministry staff. GraceLife Church began in September 2011 and now ministers to 175+ people in the greater Hershey, PA area. We are an independent Bible church that embraces the Five Solas of the Protestant Reformation and teaches the Doctrines of Grace.

Our youth ministry has been established and is growing. The successful candidate will work alongside of our current pastoral staff to provide leadership in all areas of our youth ministry from children through college and career.

Experience: Must affirm our church doctrinal statement/constitution and exhibit the qualifications listed in 1 Timothy 3 & Titus 1. Formal Bible college/seminary education and experience preferred. Musical ability and athletic background a plus but not required.
