Job Title: Youth Director

Job Description:  We are looking for a Spirit-filled person or couple who know the Lord as their personal Savior to lead our dedicated team forward to achieve these goals.
Our location is rural, west of Louisville, Kentucky, in a small town named Brandenburg.

The Primary Task of the Youth Director:

There shall be a comprehensive approach to the development and implementation of the youth ministry. This comprehensive approach is based on the understanding of the primary task of youth ministry:

To challenge youth to respond to God’s call to serve in their communities and world.

To encourage youth in developing their relationship to God.

To provide youth with opportunities for nurture and growth.

Responsibilities:

Be an advocate for youth and educate the congregation about the hopes, concerns and needs of youth in the local church and community.
Help plan, develop, and implement all aspects of a balanced youth ministry in the areas of group building, worship, discipleship, mission and outreach.

Support and guide the work of the Youth Council or equivalent body in an annual process of evaluating the vision and goals of the youth ministry and directing monthly planning sessions.


Mentor youth in developing their leadership skills.

Be aware of resources for developing the youth ministry programming and participate in continuing education events and training opportunities.

Recruit and train volunteers who work with youth in all aspects of youth ministry and ensure adequate volunteer support and adult to youth ratios.

Be a liaison between the church and other community organizations, people, and resources that relate to youth and youth ministries.

Work in partnership with the Diaconate Board to effectively reach youth in the community and develop a strategic youth ministry outreach plan.
Keep records of youth participation and manage the youth ministry budget.

Communicate in a timely manner and as effectively as possible using all available resources (email, website, bulletin, newsletter, bulletin board, etc.). Ensure communication with church staff and leadership, parents, and the congregation as a whole.

Be available to youth in a variety of ways (Youth outings, ministry activities, visitation and times of crisis)

Qualifications and Aptitudes:

Must have vision and a demonstrated ability to plan, develop, coordinate, manage and implement a youth ministry.

Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, conflict management skills and computer skills.

Must possess a proven ability to work effectively with youth, parents and the Pastor.

Information about the Church: Salem Baptist Church is a long established church family of 80-100 people in a single worship service Sunday morning.  Salem has been spreading God’s word for over 134 years, we have an older congregation, wanting to attract younger people and families.

Job Description:

Overview

This man will be responsible to promote, develop, coordinate, oversee, and staff the youth and music ministries on a full-time, temporary basis, reporting to the pastoral staff.

Requirements

This man will ascribe to our church’s statement of faith, agree to live by our covenant, and agree to operate by our constitution. He will:

- demonstrate competency, spiritual giftedness, and desire especially in the ministry areas of youth and music.

- not carry the full responsibility of a pastorate (e.g., developing church mission and vision, providing pastoral care and visitation, conducting funerals). Yet, as a ministry leader, he will be expected to carry out personal spiritual disciplines and to demonstrate Christ-likeness in his relationships in the church body.

Youth Specifics

This man will lead the operation of the youth ministry in keeping with the church’s mission and at the direction of the pastoral staff. He will:

- involve himself in the teaching and mentoring of the church’s youth, and will choose or develop appropriate curriculum.

- involve volunteers in roles of teaching, mentoring, event planning, special projects, etc.

- team with current youth ministry volunteers to plan for camps, mission trips, and other special events for 2013-14.

- care for general administrative needs related to youth ministry.

- communicate on youth ministry information with the youth and their parents.

- conduct ministry with support for and coordination with Waterloo Christian School.

Music Specifics


This man will lead the operation of the music ministry in keeping with the church’s mission and at the direction of the pastoral staff. He will:

- lead music in weekly services.

- find volunteer musicians within the church body to contribute to weekly services (e.g., pianist, guitarist, backup vocalists, special music).

- lead musical and technical rehearsals for weekly services.

- select songs and prepare the flow of weekly services.

- produce sheet music for volunteer musicians in advance of rehearsals.

- care for general administrative needs related to music ministry.

Terms of Appointment

This is a full-time position.

This is a temporary position in which this man will serve through June 30th, 2014. The position may be extended by mutual arrangement.

Salary and Benefits

This man will receive a salary commensurate with his experience but not to exceed associate-level salary.

He will be offered a benefit package in accord with the church benefit policy for full-time employees.

Job Description:
Responsibilities Overview

Purpose:  The house parents will provide a safe, God-honoring family environment for the house residents. They will oversee the ministry of the home with love, disciple and parent the house residents in accordance with Biblical principles, and provide a Christ-like example for them.  They will also function to monitor the daily physical and emotional needs of the Hannah's Home residents.

B.  Qualifications:  The house parents will:
Agree with the Hannah's Home Statement of Faith which includes the infallibility of Scripture, salvation alone through Jesus Christ, and respect for the sanctity of life
Demonstrate an active and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of God's Word
Model a marriage that is God-honoring
Demonstrate humility, integrity, maturity and sound judgment
Live in the Hannah's Home residence within designated living space
Hold a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Provide support counseling regarding options of adoption and parenting
Have no dependents living with them

C.  General Responsibilities:   The house parents will provide a supervisory and nurturing role within the home as well as serve in the following roles:
Communicate and enforce the Hannah's Home policies and mission
Provide crisis intervention and conflict management to the residents

D.  Specific Assignments:

The house parents will complete the following Administrative duties:
Plan and coordinate resident training, curriculum, discipleship and nutrition utilizing qualified and professional volunteers
Develop, build and maintain relationships with community church pastors and leaders
Coordinate events in cooperation with the event coordinator, volunteer coordinator and church/community relationship manager
Oversee house and budget record keeping
Oversee day-to-day maintenance and cleanliness for facility and vehicle
Assist in organizing special outings for the residents
Obtain First Aid/CPR certification, observe emergency procedures, maintain a first-aid kit in vehicle and conduct monthly fire/emergency drills
Ensure Hannah's Home maintains compliance with all state regulations

The house parents will complete the following home Residence duties:
Supervise, encourage, disciple and evaluate up to 10 residents at a time
Stay in the home every night unless off duty
Maintain general security of the home for all residents
Check-in new residents upon admission and discharge residents after delivery
Ensure that all residents' nutritional needs are being met
      a.) coordinate meal schedules and special dietary needs
      b.) help residents prepare healthy meals and snacks
6. Coordinate and help maintain residents' daily schedules
7.  Keep staff informed regarding the well being of each resident while always maintaining confidentiality, dignity, and respect of residents
8.  Support the residents' attendance at scheduled church services
9.  Disciple residents in spiritual development including Bible studies, devotions, attending special events and weekly informal opportunities
10. Coordinate transportation for the residents (Vehicle is provided)
11.  At time of admission, help prepare parents/guardians for general expectations and routines of the home
12.  Keep parents/guardians informed about residents' progress
13.  Be familiar with the visitation schedule and privileges for each resident
14.  Keep a running inventory and stock of items necessary for daily living in the home
15.  Coordinate medical appointments
16.  Supervise the residents when they take physician approved medication and prenatal vitamins
17.  Make and adjust room and bed assignments
18.  Establish, nurture and maintain a safe, healthy, active and comfortable living environment for the residents

E.  Hours:  During 2 days/week designated time off House Parents will remove themselves from the activities of the residence.

F.   Vacation:  Two weeks vacation is given to this position.  (Refer to the Paid-Time Off Policy.)

G.  Holidays:  House Parents may be required to work on some holidays.

H.  Outside Employment:  House Parents may not have outside employment unless prior written permission has been received from the Board of Hannah's Home.

Compensation:  The benefits package will be discussed during the interview process.

J.  Accountability:  The House Parents report directly to the Board of Hannah's Home.

Purpose of the Job: To develop and oversee a Christ-centered children’s ministry (birth through sixth grade) dedicated to bringing children into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, moving them toward spiritual maturity and equipping them to use their spiritual gifts in service for Christ.

Qualifications
* Born again Christian with a mature and vibrant faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior demonstrated by a servant spirit, a positive outlook on life, and an enjoyable personality.
* A heart, passion, calling, and gifting specifically for families and children.
* Can recruit and equip volunteer leaders in an intergenerational setting.
* Has demonstrated a commitment to teamwork.
* Possesses good communication and organization skills.
* Has a heart and the gift for teaching children and equipping others to teach children in a Biblical, gospel-centered manner.
* Graduation from a reputable college, bible college, or seminary with minimum Bachelors preferred.  If without a degree commensurate experience will be considered.

Supervisor: The Director of Children’s Ministries is under the direct supervision of the Lead Pastor or his designee from the full-time staff.

Major areas of responsibility
     Ministry Oversight
* All children’s ministries up to and including 6th grade
* Church nursery
* Annual Vacation Bible School
* Regular fellowship opportunities for children through 6th grade and or their families
* Regular Bible study program
* Resource for parents
* Provide a community focus to programming when possible
 Leadership Development
* Recruit ministry leaders for each of the children’s ministries.
* Equip and spiritually encourage ministry leaders for each of the children’s ministries
* Develop a team approach and encourage team building with ministry volunteers
* Assist with conflict resolution if needed
     Administration
* Maintain an effective communication network that will enable ministry volunteers to do their job effectively.
* Maintain healthy team relationships with pastors and staff through relationship building, weekly staff meetings, and other meetings as necessary.
* Supervise and support all volunteers.
* Should be ever conscious of the need for confidentiality
* Provide regular evaluation of all Children’s programs to Pastoral Staff.
* Purposefully support First Baptist Church of Doylestown defining characteristics of being incurably local, culturally relevant, and intergenerational.
* Provide managerial oversight for all children’s programs.
* Provides input to Pastoral staff that helps develop and support a sage and secure environment and facility for children.
     Teaching
* Choose and implement a Biblical, gospel-centered curriculum, with relevant and interesting/fun materials, for all children.
* Encourage teaching that is “life changing” rather than merely informational.
* Plan for the regular discipleship of children.
* Encourage creativity at all levels of teaching.
* Provide teacher training i.e. curriculum and individually of children.
    Personal Growth
* Maintain a growing relationship with the Lord that includes regular prayer, worship, and reading of the Word.
* Meet on a continuous basis with Supervisor for spiritual guidance, accountability, and mentorship.
* Continue to develop leadership gifts as well as an understanding of children and children’s ministry through on-going training, ministry networking and personal development.
