Senior Animal Keeper – Birds

Senior Animal Keeper – Birds

As an action oriented conservation charity, Marwell Wildlife’s desire is to connect people with nature. Through enthusing people about the wonders of the natural world we’re certain they’ll share our passion to conserve it. Our success relies on two key things. The impression we create through our 140 acre zoological park, Marwell Zoo, with its wide array of exotic and endangered species and the family of talented people we employ who share our passion and bring our vision to life.

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Animal Keeper to join our Bird Team. The position would suit a Keeper who has experience working with a variety of bird species including penguins and flamingos.

Roles and responsibilities will include supporting the Team Leader on your allocated section, ensuring high standards of animal husbandry are maintained at all times along with daily checks and record keeping.

Applicants will need to have previous experience of working with birds in a zoological collection, hold 5 GCSE’s or equivalent and a full driving licence valid for the UK. The DMZAA or equivalent qualification is also essential at Senior Keeper level.

The successful candidate will be able to work well as part of a team, have the ability to use their initiative, display interest and commitment to animal welfare and conservation, and must possess strong verbal communication skills, as talking to members of the public is an essential part of the role.

Closing Date: Midday on Friday 1st November 2013

Interviews: w/c 4th November 2013
