Term Position at George Mason U, Fairfax VA



Term Instructor/Assistant/Associate Professor - Physics and STEM Program

The George Mason University, College of Science invites applications for a Term Instructor or Assistant/Associate Professor position to support the School of Physics, Astronomy and Computational Sciences (SPACS) as well as our STEM program. This is a 12-month instructional faculty position beginning in fall 2013 with the possibility of yearly renewal based on performance.

Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will teach physics courses in SPACS and also work with the STEM Accelerator program to increase undergraduate student's success from the time a student enters Mason until the time the student graduates and starts a career. As such, the selected applicant will have significant contact with students.

The position is split between teaching (2:2 load), advising students, coordination of tutoring, and developing and utilizing learning technology. The selected candidate will work closely with the College of Science STEM Accelerator program activities throughout the year including participation in summer institutes and camps, outreach to local high schools and community colleges, and participation in mentoring students in undergraduate research.

Qualifications:

Applicants should have a minimum of Ph.D. in physics, or related sciences; and teaching experience at the college level.

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock's Department of Physics and Astronomy invites applications for a nine-month non-tenure track Instructor (T99966) position in the department for Fall 2013. The University of Arkansas at Little Rock's Department of Physics and Astronomy is dedicated to high quality education at both undergraduate and graduate levels as well as conducting research activities in a number of areas including Astrophysics and Material Sciences.

The Instructor will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in physics and astronomy. TECHNICAL INSTRUCTOR, Physics, to serve as an instructor/tutor for undergraduate studio physics courses and provide demonstration support for large lecture classes. Will work as part of a small team that coordinates with faculty and class administrators. Key responsibilities include system administration in active learning classrooms and database management. The position will provide opportunities for coordinating/organizing educational outreach programs.

REQUIREMENTS: a minimum of a B.S. (M.S. preferred) in physics or related discipline; at least one year of related experience which may include undergraduate teaching and/or laboratory work; experience using common electronic test and measurement equipment; and good general mechanical and electronic construction, troubleshooting, and repair skills. 1 Year Physics Instructor at Truckee Meadows CC


Job Description:
Truckee Meadows Community College is recruiting for a Physics instructor for a one year sabbatical replacement.  This position will be responsible teaching physics and/or astronomy classes. This position is also responsible for conducting the "Lighter than Air" annual competition.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Master's degree in Physics or related field from a regionally accredited institution.
2. One year (30 semester credit equivalent) of teaching experience at the post-secondary level.

Conditions of Employment:
This is a full-time, non-tenure track, one year temporary Physics instructor position reporting to the Department Chair of Physical Sciences at Truckee Meadows Community College, in Reno, Nevada. The successful candidate will teach 30 credits (10 classes) per academic year (15/15) August through May.

This position is open until filled. Application review will begin June 27, 2013.

Salary: $46,691 Starting dependent upon education and experience.

Faculty members' responsibilities shall be teaching courses as assigned, student advisement, assistance with registration, involvement in student-related activities, and professional development activities. Faculty may be required to teach evenings and weekends as well as online and dual enrollment courses.

Qualification Requirements:
Candidates should possess a Master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Chemistry or Physics. Experience teaching in higher education particularly at the community college level is preferred. Experience with BlackBoard and service learning is a plus.

Job Description:
Arkansas State University-Beebe is seeking applicants for a nine-month, tenure-track eligible position beginning mid- August 2013. Rank will depend upon degree and teaching experience. The faculty member will be required to teach courses such as Physical Science, Earth Science and Introduction to Chemistry in addition to Environmental Science. Saturday and/or evening classes may be required. Summer employment may also be available. Experience teaching online classes would be beneficial. Successful candidate must be willing to actively participate in academic advising and University committee work.

Qualifications:
A minimum of a master's degree in Environmental Science, Physical Science, Chemistry, or related physical science is required. A PhD and college-level teaching experience preferred. Graduate coursework in Environmental Science is preferred.
