4-year Lectureship at UNC-Chapel Hill

Position Summary: The Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for the position of Lecturer to begin in Fall 2014. The position is for an initial term of four years, and is periodically renewable upon review. We seek a dynamic person who is prepared to redesign and teach undergraduate physics or astronomy courses using pedagogy informed by physics and astronomy education research. The Lecturer will join other faculty members in the department engaged in such activity, and will participate in obtaining grant support for curricular and pedagogical improvements. The materials to be submitted include a CV (including courses taught), a statement describing his/her teaching philosophy, and any available evidence of teaching effectiveness. The candidate should also provide a statement describing how s/he would go about fully incorporating modern research-validated pedagogy into a specific physics or astronomy course of the candidate's choice. The candidate should further provide contact information for three persons prepared to write letters of recommendation (at least one of which must address the candidate's potential as a teacher). The Department of Chemistry and Physics at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a teaching lecturer position in Physics and Astronomy to begin Fall 2014. This position is renewable yearly with benefits

We seek an individual with a commitment to quality undergraduate education and with knowledge of current effective educational practices. The position will be primarily focused on introductory level science, physics, and astronomy, and may include lab coordination and curriculum development as well.  Applicants qualified with a Masters degree including 18 hours in Physics and/or Astronomy, or a Ph.D. in Physics, Astronomy or closely related field are encouraged to apply. Prior experience with distance learning would be beneficial.

Physics Faculty Position

Responsibilities:
The Department of Physics and Astronomy invites applications for a non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 1, 2014.  This new position is due to the growth of the Department and in support of the Universitys new Mechanical and Civil Engineering programs.  The successful candidate will be expected to teach at all levels in the physics curriculum and contribute to general education course offerings. Other responsibilities include maintaining an active professional development program including research with undergraduate students.

Qualifications:
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Physics or a related field by the time the position begins and a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate physics education. Experiences with current physics pedagogy and laboratory development are highly desirable.

August 1, 2014

VAP at Stevens Institute of Technology, NJ

Stevens Institutes of Technology invites applications for a renewable one-year Visiting Faculty position in the Department of Physics and Engineering Physics (PEP) beginning in August 2013. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate level lecture and laboratory courses. A Ph.D. in physics or astronomy is required and postdoctoral research experience is preferred.
