Port Lympne Wild Animal Park is part of The Aspinall Foundation, a charity committed to protecting rare and endangered animals from extinction through captive breeding and reintroduction programmes. The Park offers a fantastic variety of short break packages through our exclusive accommodation at Elephant Lodge, Livingstone Lodge our multi-award winning African Safari Experience and Livingstone Cottage our unique and ultra-luxurious safari experience. Guests stay overnight in luxury tents or the cottage and can enjoy a bespoke drive-through Safari giving the opportunity to see giraffe, black rhino, elephant, cheetah, zebra and many more wild animals roaming free in over 100 acres of sweeping countryside with fantastic panoramic views across the Romney Marsh out to the English Channel.

We are looking to recruit an experienced seasonal chef who is enthusiastic, creative and enjoys cooking African Style Food. Your food needs to be high quality, beautifully presented African Cuisine, with an emphasis on using locally sourced ingredients and fresh seafood caught in the local area.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate that they can;

Cook in the presence of customers

Talk passionately to the customers about the food, sharing tips and information

Put our guests’ needs first so exceeding customer expectations

Produce innovative dishes to enhance the overall experience for our guests whilst meeting margin targets and keeping waste to a minimum

Work well in an established team

The post is seasonal, fixed term, starting from the beginning of March 2013 until the middle to end of October 2013. Normally you will be required to work 5 days a week out of 7 which will include Bank Holiday Mondays and you will be expected to work shifts and most weekends. Flexibility is key to this role.

Port Lympne Wild Animal Park on the Kent Coast is home to Livingstone Lodge, an award winning and exciting African Safari Experience and Livingstone Cottage, our brand new, unique and ultra-luxurious short break safari experience.

This fantastic variety of short break packages offers our guests an amazing break - a chance to sample a taste of Africa in Kent! Giraffe, black rhino, elephant, cheetah, zebra and many more wild animals provide the backdrop to our unique accommodation options. Guests are able to listen to the sounds of the Serengeti and enjoy a magical night under the stars, just a short distance from the stunning coastline of Kent.

Guests stay overnight in luxury tents, at Livingstone Lodge or in our beautiful Livingstone Cottage.  They enjoy a bespoke drive-through Safari where they will have an opportunity to see all kinds of wonderful wild animals roaming free in over 100 acres of sweeping countryside with fantastic panoramic views across the Romney Marsh out to the English Channel.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a qualified Ranger



You will need a good general knowledge of African wildlife, to act as a guide providing our guests with a truly unforgettable experience. The post is seasonal, fixed term from now until the middle to end of October 2012. Pay is in the region of £7.25 an hour depending upon experience.

 Relevant experience of running a Safari Lodge is essential as is a valid driving licence and a valid work visa for working in the UK. The ideal candidate will be FGASA qualified.



Working hours are split shifts over five days a week and include weekends and Bank Holidays.

Seasonal Education Officer




Based at Bristol Zoo Gardens

Avon Gorge & Downs Seasonal Education Officer (30 hours a week over 4 days; usually Tuesday to Friday, Fixed-term position)

Salary £17,824 per annum, pro-rata for hours and months worked

A seasonal education officer is required on a seven and a half month fixed-term contract working 4 days (30 hours) per week.

You will be required to teach stimulating, enjoyable and informative sessions to school groups and play schemes on the Downs. You will also help widen the range of groups that visit the Downs by promoting these sessions to new audiences. You will also plan and run children’s holiday events and provide craft activities at public events.
The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills, British wildlife/conservation knowledge and the enthusiasm to share this with others, the ability to work independently and in a team, ICT skills, the ability to work under pressure and be flexible.
