Part-Time Catalog Librarian I - New Britain Public Library

Part-Time Catalog Librarian I - New Britain Public Library. 20 hours per week. Classifies and catalogs library materials of all types, formats and in various languages. Maintains quality of entries to ensure authority control and quality of database. Utilizes appropriate tools to create original bibliographic records according to commonly used practices. A Masters in Library Science Degree from an ALA accredited library science program and one year of cataloging experience required. Knowledge of AACR2 and RDA, DDC, OCLC, and MARC format. Understanding of cataloging principles and practices. Ability to use professional judgment in the application of library rules and procedures. Experience with SIRSI and/or Sierra and bibliographic records beneficial. Programming/Public Relations Manager - Bristol Public Library

Programming/Public Relations Manager - Bristol Public Library. Summary: Schedules and hosts programs for the Library that respond to customer and community demand. Assists with special events and promotions. Responsible for publicity and public relations. Develops, designs, and produces library newsletter, publicity materials, including but not limited to brochures, booklists and program flyers for distribution in paper electronic formats including social media outlets. Prepares library calendar for publication. Records statistics, evaluates programs, maintains budget including expenditures, contracts, and other receipts. Books meeting rooms and conducts library tours. Keeps calendar of all programs and meeting room bookings. Responsible for determining items placed on Public Library bulletin boards in accordance with policy. Generally assists throughout the library where needed. Work Schedule/Type: Full time position, 37½ hours per week, includes evening and weekend hours. Qualifications: Requires Masters Degree in Library Science from ALA accredited library school and 2 years experience in adult programming in a public library. Requires knowledge of modern principles and practices of programming for adults, public relations and publicity for public libraries, and effective written and oral communication skills. Familiarity of social media as it applies to libraries. Awareness of community resources and contacts. Must have effective public speaking skills. Expert skill and knowledge in Microsoft Office products. Requires ability to learn new software packages. Salary Range: $43,753 - $48,088/yr. Generous benefits.
