Twycross Zoo – East Midland Zoological Society (TZEMS), the World Primate Centre, has over 850 animals and is one of the most comprehensive collections of primate species and subspecies in the western world. We have exciting plans for developing the Zoo further, continuing our work in conservation of endangered species and providing the very best environment that we can.

We have more to do and as the Zoo develops we are looking for dynamic, knowledgeable individuals to help lead the teams forward.

We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Keeper on the Large Mammals section. The section manages Asian elephant, together with a range of ungulate and carnivore species including Amur leopard, snow leopard, meerkat, Bactrian camel and Kirk’s dik dik.  This is a key role which will involve working on the section, covering all areas of animal husbandry including feeding, cleaning, training and record keeping, as well as interacting with the Zoo visitors and assisting with the supervision and training of staff.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, high performing individual with a proven track record in zoo animal management. You will have a minimum of 4 years’ experience as a keeper and demonstrate a substantial working knowledge of the natural history and management of key species.  You must be a good team worker with a positive outlook and excellent communication skills and be committed to continued professional development of yourself and other staff.  Supervisory experience as well as an animal-related qualification, such as the BIAZA approved ANCMZA or DZMAA, would be advantageous. 

The role is full time, including weekend duties on a rota system. Salary is paid monthly and we provide uniform, 31 days holiday, 5% employer’s pension contribution after qualifying period.

FULL TIME ANIMAL KEEPER: Large mammals Department.

Blair Drummond Safari and Adventure Park is situated in Scotland midway between Glasgow and Edinburgh just 4 miles from Stirling.

We are seeking to employ a full time animal keeper to work within our Large Mammals Department which includes Elephants, Rhino, Giraffes and Zebra.

The successful applicant will be qualified in a zoological science field to HND level or above or have an industry recognised qualification or apprenticeship. At least one year’s experience of working in a similar environment is required.

Working within a small dedicated team of keepers you will share a passion for improving animal welfare and public awareness of species within a captive habitat. The role will involve many different and challenging tasks ranging from daily husbandry and animal training through to public talks.
A full clean driving licence is required.

Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens
 Applications are invited for an experienced keeper on the Large Mammal Section of the Park.
 
The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting in the daily husbandry of the section, and will work in close co-operation with the Section Head and his staff towards the continuous development of the section – which includes ungulate and large carnivore species. They will be expected to undertake all relevant aspects of work in a progressive animal collection. Assisting in the presentation of educational talks is essential.
 
A minimum of 5 years experience with Large Mammal species is essential. Applicants will need to demonstrate good communication skills, be self-motivated, and able to lead and work as part of a team. Possession of a relevant animal management qualification is desired and a full driving licence is essential for this position.
 
In return we offer a competitive salary, free accommodation, and a non-contributory pension scheme.

Salary £18,870 per annum

There is a full time vacancy for an experienced mammal keeper at Bristol Zoo Gardens. This is a supervisory role that will support the section’s Curators.

The successful applicant will be an experienced mammal keeper and will have at least five years experience of working with zoo animals. Having practical knowledge of the husbandry of small nocturnal mammals will be an advantage.

You will be educated to at least GCSE level, including English and a biological science and hold the Diploma in the Management of Zoo and Aquarium Animals – DMZAA (previously known as ANCMZA). The ability to supervise staff and having a general knowledge of the conservation and educational roles of zoos is also desirable.

This is a full time permanent position working 80 hours per fortnight as part of the departmental 14 day rota.
