Diagnoses entry level skills and knowledge of students. Coordinates library-media instruction with the classroom teacher to support and supplement the curriculum. Provides a library-media center environment conducive to students' learning and interacting. Provides opportunities for instruction in new media or delivery systems for students and faculty. Prepares bibliographies and mediographics as appropriate or required. Informs staff of new materials related to their areas of instruction. Library-Media Center Management Prepares a library-media budget. Establishes accounting procedures for monitoring the budget. Selects and acquires library-media materials to support and enrich the curriculum. Implements a process for accountability of materials. Establishes methods for scheduling classes and individuals into the library-media center. Coordinates and supervises the work of library assistants, volunteers and student helpers. Maintains statistics and issues reports as required. Interaction - Communicates effectively with students. Encourages students to feel free to express their opinions and respect the opinions of others. Is sensitive to and provides for individual differences among children. Librarian, Associate Faculty - Choate Rosemary Hall

Librarian, Associate Faculty - Choate Rosemary Hall, an independent boarding school with 850 students and 110 teaching faculty in Wallingford, Connecticut, seeks an innovative, dynamic librarian for the Andrew Mellon Library for the 2012-2013 academic year. The new librarian will be part of a team of four degreed librarians and nine support staff serving students in grades 9 -12. The Mellon Library plays an active role in teaching and learning by offering a variety of opportunities for skills instruction, a strong collection of online resources, a book collection of over 135,000, including 70,000 electronic titles, and 50 public computers. This is a 36-week Associate Faculty position reporting to the Director of the Andrew Mellon Library. To fulfill general library responsibilities, this Librarian: provides reference assistance to students and faculty using the library; promotes research skills by working one-on-one with individual students and more formally with faculty and their classes; contributes to the acquisition process, including weeding; supervises the library support staff when appropriate; and participates in discussions of library policies and priorities. As a leader in the library and among faculty, this Librarian: advances the use of information resources and technologies within the context of emerging educational tools, especially iPad applications; manages access services to ensure that all materials are properly cataloged, added to the library’s bibliographic database, and processed; is part of the team creating LibGuides; and promotes reading through knowledge of popular young adult literature and application of emerging technologies to reach students. Preferred qualifications: MLS from an accredited library school program; one to two years of appropriate experience in an academic environment; a strong background in current and emerging technologies; interest and knowledge in young adult literature; the availability to work two evenings and some portions of the weekend (depending on other school responsibilities); the ability to work well with others; a genuine appreciation of adolescents; and a willingness to participate fully in the life of a boarding school. School Librarian - Hopkins School, New Haven, CT. Founded in 1660, Hopkins is a coeducational, college preparatory day school that offers a challenging academic program combined with a wide variety of extracurricular activities. We seek an experienced school librarian with an MLS degree from an ALA-accredited school for a full time faculty position beginning August 15, 2012.
