Loyola University Chicago (LUC), College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), Department of Physics invites applications for a tenure-track position in physics at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2014. The physics department consists of seven tenure-track/tenured faculty members and six full-time Lecturers. The faculty has active research programs in the areas of astrophysics, biophysics, cosmology, general relativity, gender and science anxiety, granular media, musical acoustics, experimental and theoretical high-energy physics, and quantum mechanics. The department offers B.S. degrees in Physics, Theoretical Physics/Applied Mathematics, Physics/Computer Science, and Biophysics, as well as a dual B.S./M.Ed. degree. The department has partnered with several engineering schools in the implementation of dual degree physics/engineering programs. With more than 100 majors, LUC/CAS has one of the largest undergraduate physics programs among all BS-degree granting departments in the nation. Responsibilities for the position include teaching courses throughout the undergraduate physics curriculum for both physics majors and non-majors, conducting an ongoing research program in physics, and performing service for the department, college, and university as required. This position demands a passionate commitment to excellence in teaching and dedication to a strong research program that will engage undergraduate students.  
Candidates whose scholarship is in the area of experimental biophysics are highly desirable; however, qualified candidates in other areas of expertise will also be considered. The successful candidate must have earned a doctorate in physics or a closely related discipline prior to the fall of 2014, and is expected to establish a vigorous, externally funded research program involving undergraduate students. Post-doctoral training and demonstrated teaching experience are required. Candidates for the position should be willing to support the mission of LUC and the goals of a Jesuit Catholic Education.

The Department of Physics at the University of San Diego (www.sandiego.edu/cas/physics), an independent Catholic university, invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of physics position expected to begin September 2014. Applicants are expected to have a doctorate in Physics, a passion for physics undergraduate education, and a desire to pursue research suitable for undergraduates in the field of biophysics and/or related fields. The Department, housed in a modern 150,000 sq. ft. interdisciplinary science facility, strives to maintain a personalized, student-centered approach to teaching and a collaborative approach to productive undergraduate research. VAP at University of Findlay, OH

The Department of Physical Sciences at The University of Findlay, a liberal arts institution, invites applications for a visiting professor faculty position for the 2013-2014 academic year. Currently, physics at UF is a non-degree, service area program. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Physics, Biophysics, Astronomy, Engineering or closely-related area. Preference will be given to those with enthusiasm and experience in undergraduate teaching.  Responsibilities would include teaching of general physics and introductory astronomy courses, managing UF’s planetarium, and participating in curriculum development for a proposed materials science major. Supervision of undergraduate research is an expectation but not a requirement.
