HOK is looking for a building SMART (BIM) Specialist in MEP Engineering in either the San Francisco or Houston office. This position supports project teams through application of expert Revit knowledge.

RESPONSIBILITIES

[General]
  • Provides expertise and/or advisement to project teams for implementation of Revit and buildingSMART techniques.
  • Provides feedback on project-based activities to the firmwide buildingSMART team.
  • Supports the development of HOK BIM standards and content for MEP disciplines.
  • Can be a resource and team member in all phases of projects.

  • Utilizes specialist knowledge to conduct analysis or modeling in one of the following areas; M, E, or P Engineering, M, E, or P Revit Modeling, Building Physics, Energy Modeling, Daylight Analysis, CFD, MEP Fabrication, or Structures as noted below.
SKILLS and COMPETENCY

[General]
  • Advanced knowledge in building information modeling programs and applicable techniques.
  • Expertise in Revit and other BIM tools required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Outlook, Word and Excel required.
  • Knowledge about sustainability, integrated design, and LEED guidelines.
  • Experience with programming/scripting languages such as: C#, Java, VBA, Python preferred

  • Five years of discipline-specific modeling experience working on one or more of the following building types: commercial, corporate, institutional/civic, justice, science/technology, aviation, or healthcare.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) or PE preferred, if applicable.

  • LEED accreditation or Green Associate preferred.

BIM Manager - CAMPO Architects - New Orleans

JOB RESPONSIBILITES
  • Develop office BIM (Revit) workflow and standards, and update as necessary.

Overview
The Head of Sales and Business Development (BD) drives billings growth by developing relationships with new clients while nurturing the relationship with our existing clients.

As a “marketplace expert” the HBPR identifies opportunities and makes them happen based on an understanding of construction industry trends as well as client and competitive insights. He/she is expected to provide strong input on pricing, services and promotional initiatives.

Directing business partnerships is a client-centric role. It leads the entire relationship development process to create a compelling business solution for our client, identifying their needs and demonstrating how our organization can address them.

You will work closely with our Heads of Operations to align direction, plan resource allocation and coordinate client communication. Role description

New Client Generation (50% of the time)

  • Identify target clients.
  • Generate leads by connecting with network of contacts, seeking recommendations from existing clients, participating in industry events, etc.
  • Convert leads into clients. This involves identifying their needs and presenting a compelling case for how we can help meet them to secure project work. You work closely with Operations along the process.
  • Lead the preparation of proposals and negotiation with clients, working closely with Head of Operations for it. Collaborate with Operations on the initial project kickoff. Identify pricing ranges for projects taking into account client costs and competitive price levels.
  • Maximize ROI on lead-related spend.
  • Own and maintain CRM system; generate reports and analysis as needed; periodically update Operations and Executive teams.
  • Continually update operations on industry trends, client and competitive insights.
  • Generate BPR Plan and billing projections as input for Studio Business Plan and report results to management monthly.

Existing Client Growth (40% of the time)

  • Maximize billings with existing clients by periodically connecting with them to gain insights into how the relationship is progressing and to identify opportunities to expand our services.
  • Increase the value of our on-site architects as ambassadors of our studio to expand opportunities into new projects and teams.

I was responsible for documenting shop drawings, redesigns and as-built drawings over four and half years. I reported to the project manager and I oversaw 4 senior draftsmen and 5 site foremen.

REVIT Experience:
  • Using Revit since 2007
  • HOK Houston - architectural technician for the $12.1 billion King Abdullah University of Science and Technology project (KAUST). Created design development and construction documentation.
  • Designed a research laboratory for graduate studio in Revit
  • Modeled a recreational building in Revit and exported it to 3Ds Max for rendering

Intermediate proficiency level and expertise with BIM (Revit Architecture). This position level may include supervisory responsibilities. Work duties may be narrowly focuses or diverse. Examples of focus may include areas such as CADD management, 3D specialist, BIM Specialist and other areas of specialization. Will be knowledgeable in methods, techniques, and practices of the appropriate specialty. Will help establish, guide and direct BIM systems and processes. Provide leadership and vision to the firm in the area of CADD and BIM.

Essential Functions
Responsibility for planning and implementation of BIM firm wide. Overseeing, developing and organizing support and training materials for CADD and BIM applications. BIM contact for local Arch Inc offices. Develop and foster relationships with sub-consultants, and user groups. Participate in the development of CADD and BIM standards. Conduct project related model reviews.

Project file loading
Defining project CADD workflow
Interact on project standards coordination with clients
Review incoming CADD files for use on projects (if no project CADD coord)
Obtain any special fonts, plot or color styles
Assist in Publish, PDF or DWF support
Develop, implement and enforce project (& firm) BIM standards
Assist users in understanding the existing standards
Gather comments in existing BIM standards for review
Review BIM files for compliance with standards
Setup project files prior to Project Setup Team startup
Conduct Project related BIM reviews
Perform random scan of BIM files for problems
Perform scan of BIM files for problems as requested
Perform model reviews

Essential Functions

Monitor performance of subordinates, if any. Interface with CBS for firm wide support as needed. Firm wide BIM contact for all Arch Inc offices. Develop and foster relationships with sub-consultants, and user groups. Participate in the development of CADD and BIM standards. Oversight of the BIM Process. Assisting and coordinating with Office Leaders and PMs on selection of BIM software for individual projects. Conduct project related model reviews.
