Reporting to the Security Operations Supervisor, this position is responsible for the safety and security of Council members, employees, citizens and visitors within City of Brampton properties and to secure corporate assets including real property equipment, supplies and personal assets of Council members, employees, citizens and visitors while respecting all applicable legislative requirements.OPERATION SUPPORT
Provide day-to-day coordination of security operations. Provide support and recommendations for defined programs, processes, policies, practices and project initiatives to meet operational needs and corporate service standards.
Liaise with City staff members regarding security related situations.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
Act as a key source of contact and provide guidance, advice and support to ensure coordination meets operational needs and corporate safety and security service standards. Escalate complex issues to appropriate level for resolution.
Build and maintain a relationship with the public, local law enforcement, cross-functional departments, team and management to support coordination and ensure a thorough understanding of operational needs.
Coordinate protection in the event of mass gatherings as required.
COMMUNICATION AND REPORTING
Prepare management reports, presentations and general ad hoc information as required accurately by established timelines.
Create and maintain documentation and ensure necessary sign-offs and approvals meet policies and confidentiality.
Liaise between third party contract guard supplier, staff and City of Brampton.
Utilize specialized software, review security reports and maintain the security incident database.
Conduct audits, reviews and quality assurance initiatives to ensure achievement of key performance indicators.
CORPORATE CONTRIBUTION
Conduct research using internal and external resources to gain insight of market trends, current programs, processes and practices to support management and recommend ways to improve business processes, service solutions and best practices for the security program.
Maintain knowledge of, review and assist in the development of collective agreements, City policies and practices, legislation, regulations and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Coordinate and recommend training and education sessions for employees.
BUDGET SUPPORT
Responsible for maintaining operational budgets in collaboration with the Security Operations Supervisor and Property Management Manager.
TEAMWORK AND COOPERATION
Participate in project coordination and team meetings as required to meet operational needs.
Work well within diverse groups in support of operational goals and objectives.
Demonstrate corporate values at all times.
Participate as a member of cross-functional team.
Provide support/backup as necessary.
Qualifications/Skills:
Post secondary Community College/ Polytechnic University program in Law Enforcement or equivalent completion;
3-5 years supervisory experience in a municipal/government sector;
Ability to identify business needs, initiate and coordinate project resource requests;
Solid Customer Service and People Management skills; Interface with internal and external customers to meet corporate service standards;
Solid Organizational skills; Detail oriented, well organized able to coordinate activities and tasks meeting conflicting priorities and timelines;
Computer proficiency in Microsoft office/software.
Mandatory Requirements:
Education will include industry offered sessions including CPTED, Legal Authorities, Use of Force, Project Management, Industry Trends, and Industry Requirements (legislative);
Must have a valid Ontario security licence issued under the Private Security & Investigative Services Act;
Safety training in a municipal or public sector environment would be an asset;
Have excellent conflict resolution skills;
Project Management experience and methodology; ability to stay organized and schedule inspections and testing at many sites;
Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office;
Good understanding of PPM2000 (Perspective) incident report writing software;
Excellent public relations and communication skills (written and verbal);
Ability to work variable hours due to 24/7 security operation;
Have working experience with the following legislations, Human Rights Code, Criminal Code, Provincial Offences Acts, City of Brampton By-laws, Occupational Health & Safety Act, WHMIS, Bill 68 – Workplace Violence & Workplace
Harassment, Private Security & Investigative Services Act ;
Standard First Aid & CPR certification;
A valid non-probationary class G license.
