Tropical Wings Zoo is currently looking to recruit a highly motivated, reliable and enthusiastic individual with a passion for birds to join our dedicated team of animal care staff.

Ideal candidate will have:
·        A passion and excitement for your chosen field with a keen drive to develop your career as a Zoo Keeper
·        Previous experience in aviculture essential
·        Completed an animal based qualification, preferably with some experience of working in a zoo environment.
·        Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team and alone.


·        The ability to be a confident communicator and experience of public speaking beneficial though not essential.

Presenter - Newquay Zoo



PRESENTER

Newquay Zoo is part of the Whitley Wildlife Conservation Trust, a registered education, scientific and conservation charity established in 1957.
An opportunity has arisen for a presenter at Newquay zoo. The scope of the post is to deliver high-quality, positive and engaging communications on conservation and biodiversity issues for all ages - to enable audiences to understand why biodiversity matters, improve their understanding of the role of environmental parks in conservation and motivate and empower them to take action to conserve biodiversity.
Hours of work:
This is an initial one year fixed term part time contract subject to successful probationary period. The hours of work will be from Saturday – Monday from 10 am – 4pm. There may also be additional hours as needed during holidays and peak visitor times.
Rate of pay: £7.02 per hour
Education required
Essential: GCSE Science and/or Geography
Desirable: A degree in biological science, conservation or relevant related FdSc, BSc level or above.
Experience required
Essential: Demonstrable enthusiasm for communicating conservation and biodiversity issues to a wide audience.
Desirable: Previous work at a conservation/education based environment or visitor attraction.  Experience delivering presentations and running educational activities for children and/or adults.
Main Duties:
  • Deliver a daily programme of presentations and activities for all visitors.
  • Lead experience days, tours and informative talks for individuals and groups.
  • Assist planning and delivery of activities for out of school hours activities e.g. clubs and summer schools.
  • Select appropriate materials for delivery to a wide age and ability range, including special needs.
  • Assist with care of any artefacts and animals (mainly minibeasts) housed within the education department.
  • Assist with delivery of Zoo events and campaigns.
  • Assist with general duties involved in running the education service, including administrative tasks.
  • Promote the work of the Whitley Wildlife Conservation Trust. 
  • Carry out any other relevant duties, as directed by line manager or head of department.
  • Work involves weekend and seasonal hours as well as occasional evening work, for which time is taken in lieu where appropriate.

Presenter - Bristol Zoo

Full time 37.5 hours per week, fixed term position

Salary £16,709 per annum

A vacancy has arisen for a Presenter to join Bristol Zoo’s Presentations Team.

The successful applicant will have considerable experience in animal husbandry with some animal training and presentations skills.  The Presentations Section develops and delivers the animal demonstrations, husbanding and training the Section’s animals and advising the other animal sections on husbandry training.  Experience with seal husbandry would also be a great advantage.

This is a full time position working on average 37.5 hours per week as part of the section rota which will include weekends and bank holidays.  This position is fixed term until 26th March 2014.

TEMPORARY PRESENTER
(Easter – 2nd September 2012)


Chester Zoo, one of Europe’s leading Zoological collections, has an active and award winning Education Division, now seeking a Presenter on a temporary contract running to 2nd September 2012.

Our Presenter team are a vital part of enhancing the visitors’ experience and work includes delivering public talks, interpretation and exhibition supervision. School holiday activities may include story telling. Audiences vary from 2 to 500 or more, and there is lots of public interaction requiring a confident and outgoing personality.

The successful candidate will have a Zoo Biology or Conservation related degree, and have good communication skills. They will have experience of Zoo Education and of public speaking or delivering guided tours and will be able to deliver this information to a variety of audiences. A good knowledge of conservation issues and a wide-ranging and in depth knowledge of the natural world is required. They will be able to work as part of a team and individually, be well organised and have the ability to provide excellent customer care.

The successful candidate will ideally have a good knowledge of Chester Zoo’s animal collection, our conservation work and be computer literate (in particular working knowledge of Microsoft Office).

This post is subject to an enhanced CRB check.

Work is 5 days in 7, including Bank Holidays and every weekend. Rate of pay is £7.89 per hour.

ANIMAL ACTIVITIES KEEPER/ PRESENTER

Based at ZSL London Zoo
Regent’s Park


£17,805 p.a. inclusive


The Animal Activities department is looking for a reliable, confident team member with public presentation experience. The appointed person will assist colleagues in the delivery of a busy event programme, needing a high level of flexibility and commitment.

The successful candidate will have high standards of animal husbandry and experience working with a range of animals. They will also show an understanding of animal training techniques for visitor demonstrations.

Good communication skills and experience of dealing with the public is essential, together with the ability to work effectively within a team. Hours are 37.5 per week, worked within a roster which includes weekends.

A full UK driving licence is required for this position.
