Manager Policy Department Europe

AAP, Rescue Centre for Exotic Animals

The work and ideal of AAP is to improve, in a professional manner, the welfare of abused or neglected exotic mammals from all over Europe. This is achieved by providing shelter to animals from the illegal trade, circuses, animal-testing laboratories or private individuals. For most animals we find suitable homes worldwide in reserves, zoos or in our own facilities in the south of Spain.

AAP also works on the prevention of animal welfare problems by influencing both Dutch and European policy- and decision-makers and the general public. To achieve our goals AAP actively strives for strategic cooperation  with professional colleague organisations in this field. With more than 40 years of experience AAP is  an international authoritative expert.

We employ about 70 paid staff and more than 100 volunteers. AAP is situated in the middle of a green area near Almere. There are few places where you can see the result of your efforts as directly as at AAP – each animal taken into our care is rehabilitated. AAP distinguishes itself by having an enormous passion and a professional, open culture. Our core
values, accessibility, dedication and inventiveness form important guidelines.

Obviously, you will travel regularly for your work. You make policy and annual plans and, together with your team, you ensure that these are carried out.  In addition, you are a member of the Management Team and report to the Board.  In short: a very interesting and important position within AAP in an expanding international team and work area.

Your experience
·        Academic work and intelligence level.
·        Experience with developing visions and strategic plans
·        Experience with and knowledge of working in an international context, in particular Europe
