EXPERIENCE PRESENTER KEEPER

EXPERIENCE PRESENTER KEEPER

(Permanent Contract)

Chester Zoo, one of Europe’s leading Zoological collections, has an active and award winning Discovery and Learning Division and is now recruiting an Experience Presenter Keeper.

Our Experience Presenter Keepers add quality to the visitor experience by planning and delivering personalised animal experiences to small groups of visitors in both public zoo spaces, behind the scenes and in animal enclosures. The successful applicant must have a Zoo Biology/Conservation degree or equivalent experience, and a broad knowledge of conservation, ecology and biology.  A good working knowledge of how to plan and present educational activities, along with excellent presentation skills (written and verbal) and tour guiding is required.

The successful candidate will have experience of animal husbandry and working as part of a zoo keeper team, have good knowledge of safe working practices and the ability to write risk assessments.  Knowledge of Chester Zoo’s animal collection and conservation work is an advantage.

They will be able to provide excellent customer service, communicate effectively, and show attention to detail to both internal and external customers, be computer literate (in particular handling data and producing reports), have good time management skills and the ability to multi task and respond appropriately to the unexpected.

The successful candidate will ideally have a current driving licence and a working knowledge of plant identification.

This post is subject to an enhanced CRB check.

A 4 week rota is in place. Work is the equivalent of 5 days a week, including Bank Holidays, and 3 out of 4 weekends.

Salary is £16,307 per annum based on a 35 hour week, however additional hours are worked depending on demand of bookings.

We’ve been a charity since our founding in 1909 and maintain a keen commercial edge to ensure we can sustain our excellent reputation.
