Risk Manager

Job Introduction:
The Risk Manager is responsible for safeguarding the business, its employees, customers, reputation, assets and interests of stakeholders by identifying and managing all threats to the achievement of its business objectives. In order to achieve these aims the Risk Manager will advise on any potential risks
to the profitability the Company.

Responsible for identifying and assessing threats, putting Business Continuity Plans in place and advising how to avoid, reduce or transfer risks

G4S Risk Management’s primary focus is to provide national governments, multinational corporations and international peace and security agencies operating in hostile or sensitive environments with:
Protective security services
Risk advisory and consultancy services
Specialist training
Mine action services including Weapons Reduction and Explosive Ordnance Management
Development and reconstruction services.


The Risk Manager will report to the G4S Managing Director of G4S Iraq with direct responsibility for the reporting and Risk Management design and business implementation.

The incumbent will locate between North and South areas of Operations, accommodation is supplied in secure facilities allocated to the management team. He/she may be required to travel by secure means to the remote projects site to conduct Risk Mitigation appraisals.

Life support will be provided including portacabin accommodation, dining facility, laundry and welfare facilities. (Internet and telecommunications may be limited due to the environmental conditions in Iraq.)

Role Responsibility:
Identify, manage and mitigate risks which could arise from internal processes, people and systems, or from external events.
Design and implement a risk management process for the business.
Complete a program of risk assessments, which includes analysing risks as well as identifying, describing and estimating the risks affecting the business.
Prepare risk evaluations, comparing estimated risks with criteria established by the business such as costs, legal requirements and environmental factors, and evaluating the business’s handling of risks.
Report risks in an appropriate way for different audiences, for example to the Excom so they understand the most significant risks, to Heads of Departments to ensure they are aware of risks relevant to their parts of the business and to individuals to understand their accountability for individual risks.
Provide support implementing health and safety measures and making business continuity plans to limit risks and contingency plans.
Conduct audits of policies and procedure compliance to standards. To include liaison with internal and external auditors.
Provide support, training and coaching to staff to build risk awareness within the business to embed a risk management culture.
Promote best practices for control with the business and support areas.
Perform and coordinate frameworks, including:
Operational risk reporting and analysis
New business initiatives risk reviews
Report Key Risk Indicators and derive root cause for significant deviations
Document action plans and report on issue status



The Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have at least 10yrs military/law enforcement experience, with a detailed knowledge of the Operations and enviroments G4S Risk Management operates within.

Added to this the candidate will possess excellent and sound knowledge of the key business functions and an understanding of the key risk and controls within these areas.

The candidate should also possess the following attributes:

Proven verbal and written skills
The ability to work unsupervised, in a fast paced team environment, working extremely long hours.
Proven IT skills in all Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Access, Word & Power Point).



A candidate should also be articulate, self aware, corporately loyal, diligent, physically and mentally fit, self motivated and possess a proactive outlook toward work, combined with the ability to motivate others.
