Senior Systems Design Engineer (Wafer Inspection|Delta Tau|Quick Silver|National Instruments controllers|linear motors)(#108960)

Job Title: Senior Systems Design Engineer
Location: Milpitas, CA
Duration: Fulltime

Job Description:
The SWIFT division has the mission to  provide cost-effective solutions for high-sampling wafer inspection applications. We effectively partner with field support teams and customers to lower overall Fab costs by supplying world-leading high-throughput inspection, metrology and review systems. Our comprehensive product portfolio includes: all-wafer-surface (front side, backside, and edge) macro inspection, standalone high-sampling inspection, and standalone edge inspection and metrology tools that are deployed across several advanced wafer fabs for a large number of applications.

Besides developing valuable products, the SWIFT division provides support to the customers to achieve performance entitlement through the sharing and implementation of applications BKM (Best Known Methods). The SWIFT (Simultaneous Wafer Inspection at Fast Throughput) division is part of Wafer Inspection Group (WIG) and consists in an organization globally located in US, Germany, India, and Singapore. Responsibilities:
Successful candidate will be able to perform systems engineering work, focusing on development and implementation of control systems for the semiconductor equipment.
This includes the following skills:
1) Controlling mechanical stages - typically leadscrew driven with cross roller bearing guides, or air bearing stages with linear motors and optical encoders for position feedback.
2) Testing and tuning vibration isolation systems.
3) Controlling system components: Illuminators, mechanical mechanisms (often pneumatic actuation with thru beam sensors for end of travel confirmation), rotary and linear motors - with and without encoders.
4) System level technical specifications for the next generation SWIFT Wafer inspection tools with minimum input from Management and work closely with other functional groups (Marketing, Applications, Manufacturing and Service) to define right level of compromise between performance and cost.
5) Design, write and execute detailed test and characterization plans.
6) Create performance models of complex electromechanical, optical and opto-mechanical systems.
7) Create top-level system error budgets by integrating and performing trade-off analysis of contributions from various sub-systems.
8) Create and monitor top-level system integration plans.
9) Hold design reviews, attend design reviews and develop associated engineering documentation.
10) Provide engineering support for escalated manufacturing and field issues.
11) Interact and work with other engineering groups, marketing, field support and manufacturing groups in the course of the above duties.
