The Department of Natural Sciences (DNS) invites resumes for a nine month, full-time, tenure track position beginning August, 2013. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualification.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate physics courses at all levels and to develop an externally funded research program that will involve both undergraduate and graduate students. Additionally, the successful candidate must have excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to teaching, research and service. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Ph.D. required preferably in experimental physics with demonstrated high quality undergraduate teaching experience using contemporary technologies. Ability to get along with others required. Ability to accept and work in the United States required. Note: Individuals with degrees outside of the US may be subject to verification. Verification of degree is the responsibility of the candidate.
The DNS offers undergraduate majors in Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Sciences. It also offers M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Toxicology and Marine Estuarine and Environmental Sciences, and a M.S. Chemistry. Physics is a minor area and primarily offers support courses for majors in Engineering, Math and Computer Science, Technology, Health professions, and other science disciplines. The Department is in the process of developing physics as a major and the successful candidate will be expected to lead this effort. Calculus based physics labs are equipped with PASCO Science Workshop TM (model 750) and a variety of sensors.
