Driector of STEM Experiential Learning, IUPUI IN

Research Administration: The School of Engineering and Technology at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, seeks qualified candidates for a full-time appointed research associate serving as the Director of STEM Experiential Learning. This position provides overall direction for the initiation, monitoring, completion, and reporting of programs in the Indy Learning Centers. Position also supervises the professional and student staff and performs a variety of personnel functions. Responsibilities include budgetary and fiscal management, quality assurance, database maintenance, proper documentation and reporting, and compliance with various policies and regulations. The successful applicant will serve as a liaison between the professional staff and sponsors, collaborators, and regulatory agencies. This position is 100% funded by external grant/contract funding. STEM Curriculum Specialist, Galveston College TX

Galveston College, located on historic Galveston Island, invites applications for the position of  STEM Curriculum Specialist.
The STEM Curriculum Specialist reports directly to the STEM Project Director and indirectly to the Vice President of Instruction.  In addition to teaching, the STEM Curriculum Specialist has specific responsibility for assisting faculty in the development and delivery of competency-based programs in biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics. This is a 12 month grant funded faculty position.
Minimum Education, Skills and Abilities:
  • Hold a masters degree in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics area or hold a masters degree in a closely related area with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in a STEM area;
  • Five years teaching/instructional experience;
  • Demonstrated experience in STEM course instruction and curriculum development;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with faculty, staff, other departments, students and the public;
  • Ability to work within an open and team environment using collaborative approaches;
  • Ability to focus on student learning and student success;
  • Ability to foster college-wide partnerships to promote quality in education;
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong computer skills.

Preferred Education, Skills and Abilities:
  • Qualifications to teach college level math or biology preferred;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new programs to serve the needs of the college and the community;
  • Demonstrated bi-lingual skills.

Science Lab Coordinator, Claremont McKenna College CA

The Keck Science Department, which houses the biology, chemistry, environmental science, and physics faculty for Claremont McKenna, Pitzer, and Scripps Colleges (three of the five undergraduate Claremont Colleges), seeks to fill the position of Integrated Science Laboratory Coordinator. This is a grant-funded position with a two-year appointment, contingent upon satisfactory review at the end of the first year. The initial appointment will begin no later than September 1, 2013. The Coordinator will work with faculty to oversee the set-up and preparation of the laboratory curriculum for the department’s Accelerated Integrated Science Sequence (AISS) and Introduction to Biological Chemistry (IBC) courses. Additional responsibilities will include maintaining a departmental website and organizing a national conference, both focusing on interdisciplinary science education, and aiding in the assessment of the educational effectiveness of the AISS and IBC courses.
A bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, or related interdisciplinary field and at least one year’s work experience is required or alternatively a master’s degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, or related interdisciplinary field.
