Hoosier Academies is looking for a Middle School-level, Indiana-certified Science Teacher to work in an innovative environment. Hoosier Academies teachers are part of a national pioneering effort in public education combining virtual instruction with face-to-face instruction in the nation’s first hybrid public school. Our Teachers should therefore share the school's entrepreneurial spirit and passion to provide students with a world class educational program that blends virtual with face-to-face instruction. Teaching in a hybrid virtual charter school requires strong instructional skills and a firm commitment to our innovative model. Teachers will be expected to carry out the school mission and vision and play an active role in pioneering virtual-hybrid instruction. Teachers will be trained to use a variety of virtual tools to engage students working in the curriculum and apply various teaching techniques traditional to many classrooms. Teachers’ responsibilities include differentiating instruction that meets students’ individualized needs, establishing appropriate learning plans for each student, and teaching on-site at the school in Indianapolis up to 3 days per week, with the remaining days providing virtual instruction from a home office.

Qualifications:

·        Indiana-certified Science Teacher certified to teach Middle School students
·        Meets Indiana's Highly Qualified Teacher requirements
·        Bachelor's degree
·        2+ years of teaching experience
·        Ability to support and guide adults, as well as students
·        Strong communication, organization and time-management skills
·        Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook and the Internet
·        Flexible schedule
·        Experience in a charter school or school of choice environment (virtual teaching preferred)
·        Ability to learn new technology tools quickly (e.g., database and web-based tools)

Position Summary: The Model Laboratory School Middle School Teacher Math and Science

Instructor is responsible for instruction of 6th grade math and 7th grade science courses. In addition to daily lesson preparation, implementation of instruction, assessment and supervision of students, the position is also responsible for mentoring pre-service teachers as well as serving on university committees and sponsoring extra-curricular activities.

Minimum Licensure/Certification Qualifications: Kentucky middle school teaching certificate or Intern Letter of Eligibility.

Minimum Educational Qualifications: Bachelors degree.
Minimum Experience Qualifications: Successful completion of student teaching or enrollment in middle grades certification MAT program.

Qualification Equivalencies: No equivalencies.
Desired Qualifications Kentucky Middle School teaching certificate in math and science with three years of experience and Masters degree.
