Security / Logistics Assistant (World Vision) - Afghanistan

Job Summary

WORK CONTEXT / BACKGROUND:

This position covers many roles at the small scale.

It will be based in Kabul office as the office is new

and it will require multitasking person.





PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Security & Logistics Assistant is responsible to

ensure safety and security of all staff in Kabul as

the country is classified as an insecure complex

humanitarian environment. Requires tracking the

WV staff movements. Perform administrative

tasks related to the Security and Supply Chain

Department. Support the office in terms provision

of supplies as per WV Standards.





Duties and Responsibilities

JOB ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITES

1. Networking with sources (internal and

external)

a. Attend meetings provided by external sources

o Establish or build upon existing relationships

with other NGO's, Agencies and government

departments, establishing comprehensive

information sharing network.

o Participate to the ANSO and other security

related meetings and share the meeting details

with the security management.

2. Staff tracking mechanism

a. Conduct radio check with the security guards

b. Head Guard Tasks.

o Track and monitor all WV staff (both national

and internationals) at all times. Track all daily

movement of vehicles in and around the city.

o Especially during holidays and nights. Also

ensure checking the WV premises during late

nights to ensure guards are vigilant.

o Supervise the office guards and ensure they are

performing their job well. Ensure guards are

awake during the night.

3. Assist the Security Manager

a. Security briefing

o Assist the Security Manager in completing and

conducting SRAs and other security management

work.

o Provide daily briefing regarding the overall

security situation to ND and other relevant staff.

4. Transport

a. Ensure that WV vehicles are maintained as per

WV standards.

b. WV fleet in Kabul is properly managed. Timely

services are provided for the staff pick and drop

requests.

c. Drivers are managed and regular performance

appraisals conducted, timesheets maintained.

o Vehicles are in good & safe condition

maintained in the office.

o Proper plans are developed where requests are

timely addressed

o Timely timesheets are submitted to the P&C.

5. Procurement

a. Conduct procurement of materials for the

Kabul office support as per WV standard.

b. Timely process the payments.

c. Support the Herat procurement team with

sourcing of materials in Kabul

o Materials timely procured for the Kabul office

o Timely paperwork submitted to Finance for

payment.

o Timely support provided for Herat team on

identification of the sources.





Qualification

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND ATTITUDES

REQUIRED

The following knowledge, skills and abilities

maybe acquired through a combination of formal

schooling, self-education, prior experience, or on

the job training:





Education:

• High school is required. Diploma or BA is

desirable.

Knowledge & Skills:

• A thorough knowledge and understanding of

Kabul

• Excellent command of English and local

languages.

• Understanding the humanitarian industry.

• A thorough knowledge and understanding of

radio system.

• Computer Knowledge.

• Must be committed to World Vision core values

and goals.

• Must have analytical skills.

Experience:

• Must have at least 1 year experience in the field

of security.

• Should be trained in First Aid

• Should have received other security related

trainings





Work Environment:

The Security & Transport Assistant will spend

most of his time in Kabul City with possible field

movements to the nearby areas outside the Kabul

city. This Position reports to the Deputy Security

Manager. The Security & Transport Assistant

should have ability to communicate with internal

and external sources and the local communities.

He should have the analytical skills to provide

recommendations to the security management

for better changes in security. He should

supervise the security guards and ensure they

perform their job well.
