Force Protection Lead - Afghanistan

Job Summary

The Force Protection Lead is responsible

for all aspects of planning, scheduling,

organizing, managing, and assessing

performance of a medium to small sized

team of Protective Security Detail (PSD)

personnel under designated contract.

Principal Accountabilities

Ensure that all PSD personnel are

executing their responsibilities

efficiently and effectively.

Supervise the day to day protective

security functions as specified in daily

post and detail orders.

Assess performance of PSD personnel

and ensure proper behavior of all

designated security personnel on and

off duty.

Provide for off-duty needs of PSD

personnel to include; housing, meals

and activities to enable security

personnel to perform their

assignments without distraction.

Responsible for safe operations of

assigned PSD transportation to

ensure for principals safety to include

(water, air, and ground) operations.

Coordinate and supervise advanced

security reconnaissance of projected

routes.

Oversight of static security

assignments when directed by Force

Protection Supervisor.

Assume the duties and

responsibilities of Force Protection

Supervisor in their absence.

Perform other qualified duties as

assigned.





Knowledge & Skills:

In-depth knowledge of military Air

and Protective Security Detail (PSD)

operations, Advanced Infantry

Tactics, Techniques and Procedures

(TTP's), Close Quarter Combat (CQB),

Quick Reaction Force (QRF) and

Search and Rescue (SAR) operations.

Experience in conducting Risk and

Vulnerability Assessments and other

Force Protection Planning Procedures.

Able to utilize special weapons and

tactics to ensure mission success.

Proficiency in small arms (pistol,

assault rifle, medium machine gun) is

required.

Excellent communications skills with

persons at all levels.

In-depth knowledge of company's

PSD security policies and procedures.

Ability to supervise sensitive

information while maintaining

confidentiality and respond

effectively to sensitive inquiries and

complaints.

Must be proficient in MS Office Suit

(Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and

Word).

Professional attitude and the ability to

build successful working relationships

with contacts outside of the INL/

Airwing Section.

Demonstrated experience

coordinating/communicating with

multiple organizations

simultaneously.

Ability to perform in multi-task

environment; organize and prioritize

multiple on-going projects.

Strong organizational skills and

attention to detail.

Excellent planning and organizational

skills including the implementation of

policy and procedure papers

supporting project operations in the

country of operations.

Possess or have the ability to obtain a

current US Passport before

assignment.

Possess or have the ability to attain

and retain a Department of Defense

Secret Security Clearance; possession

of an active DoD Secret Security

Clearance or higher is desired.





Experience & Education

Six (6) or more years of Physical

Security, Industrial Security, or

Antiterrorism/Force Protection or an

equivalent combination of training

and experience is necessary.

Previous leadership/supervision

experience leading a medium

employee base preferred.

Two (2) or more years security

operations experience in the Middle

East/Central Asia, (Afghanistan

preferred) Theater or similar theater

of operations.

Completion and continued re-

qualification through an authorized

Department of State Personal

Protection Course.

Must possess or complete a US

Department of State authorized

weapons qualification course on

assigned weapons (M4, M9, M-240,

and M-249) and maintain

qualification.

Completion and continued re-

qualification through an authorized

Department of State High Threat

Environment Drivers Course.

This experience and background may

have been gained in any of the

following organizations:

U.S. Department of State Diplomatic

Security Service

U.S. Secret Service

U.S. Federal Agencies, i.e., FBI

(former special agents with

protective security background)

U.S. Special Forces/Special

Operations

U.S. Military Infantry (Army or USMC)

Commercial executive protection

services with military or police

background

Law Enforcement experience (U.S.

Military Police/Criminal Investigations

Division; or an Emergency Services,

SWAT type unit of a local or State

Law Enforcement Agency)
