The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Western Washington University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position starting September 2014.  Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in physics or astronomy.  Successful applicants must complement existing departmental research, with preference given to candidates in Physics Education Research or Astronomy. Candidates should also have a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and enthusiasm for teaching undergraduates.  Candidates should be actively engaged in research with a strong publication record; post-doctoral experience is also preferred.  Effective communication skills and an ability to work effectively with diverse students and colleagues are highly desired.  A successful applicant will be expected to pursue an on-campus research program that will actively and sustainably involve undergraduate students, and to apply for external grant support.
