Assistant Director of Teaching Labs, American University

The Department of Physics at American University invites applications for a one year, full-time term faculty position as the Assistant Director of Physics Teaching Laboratories, beginning Fall 2013. The position is a nine-month appointment at the rank of Professional Lecturer during the academic year, with potential for additional employment over the summers as adjunct faculty. A PhD in Physics, Physics Education, or a closely related field, is required. Teaching experience, experience in laboratory or experimental physics, and strong writing skills, are desirable. Responsibilities include teaching physics laboratory sections, working with lecture-course instructors to develop and implement laboratory teaching curriculum, and assisting in physics demonstrations for physics and astronomy lecture courses. Additional duties may also be assigned by the Director of Physics Laboratories and Chair.
