Job Description
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a medical specialist with Urban Search and Rescue experience and has experience deploying on a Search and Rescue (SAR) Team. The successful candidate will serve as an advisor/trainer on the Kosovo Search and Rescue Technical Assistance Field Team (TAFT).
This Security Assistance Training Team is being provided to the Kosovo Security Force in support of increasing the capabilities of the Kosovar SAR Company. This training team is being provided as part of a Security Assistance Training Program that directly supports US Foreign Policy and the execution of Department of Defense Security Cooperation Plans and Programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Advise and assist the Kosovar SAR Company commander in developing and implementing a detailed training program.
• Provide equipment training for INSARAG Heavy Rescue Teams.
• Provide training for specialized rescue operations.
• Provide training for supporting deployed/Task Force Operations.
• Provide Baseline and International USAR Training.
• Provide Disaster Logistics Training.
• Provide Command Training.
• Provide Search Training.
• Provide Advanced Structural Collapse Training.
• Provide Train-the-Trainer class.
• Provide Swift Water Rescue and Boat Operator Training.
• Provide Advanced Breaching, Breaking and Steel Cutting Training.
• Provide Advanced Disaster Logistics Training.
• Provide Rescue in a Contaminated Environment Training.
• Provide Medical Specialist Training.
• Provide Canine Search Specialist Training.
For over ten years, AMERICAN SYSTEMS has supported the delivery of training services to foreign military personnel in support of US foreign assistance programs. We offer a very competitive compensation and benefit package and there are no upfront out of pocket expenses for persons hired. All travel and transportation arrangements will be made and paid for by AMERICAN SYSTEMS. Living expenses are paid by AMERICAN SYSTEMS with all employees living in western-style secure accommodations. Work is performed five days per week at a secure facility/base within the host nation (foreign purchaser). Persons hired will be full-time salaried employees of AMERICAN SYSTEMS. There is no requirement/authorization to carry firearms.
Job Requirements
Position Requirements:
• Must have attended and been certified from an official USAR Course recognized by FEMA
• Attended Critical Incident Stress Awareness; USAR Operations Orientation
• Attended Hazardous Materials to the Awareness level
• Attended Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
• Attended Respiratory Protection per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134(k)
• Attended Office of Domestic Preparedness AWR 160
• Attended Blood borne pathogens; USAR GPS Awareness level
• Must be certified in Rope rescue to the Technician II level
• Must be certified Confined Space rescue to the Technician II level
• Must be certified Trench rescue to the Technician II level
• Must be certified Vehicle and Heavy Equipment rescue to the Technician II level
• Must be certified Structural Collapse rescue to the Technician II level
• Must be certified Surface Water rescue to the Technician II level
• Must be certified Incident Command and NIMS courses IS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800
• Must have experience Heavy Search and Rescue leadership experience.
• Physically fit with ability to present a professional military appearance and bearing.
• Medical physical exam within the last 12-months with no chronic conditions that would prevent performance of duties in a semi-austere, seasonably very-hot environment with limited access to “western standard” medical care. • Ability to present proof of negative HIV test within 90 days of traveling overseas.
• Must possess a current US Tourist Passport. (Passport must not expire within 12-months of being hired.)
• Candidate must be drug-free with ability to successfully pass drug screening test.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.
• Ability to effectively conduct cross-cultural communications and deliver training/instruction with the use of an interpreter.
Background / Experience Requirements:
• Retired/ former member of either the 911th or 178th Engineer Companies.
• Experience working on a deployed SAR.
• Prior experience conducting cross-cultural communications and delivering training/instruction with the use of an interpreter.
• Prior experience as a military instructor in the related skill is highly desired.
• Prior experience developing military instructional material.
• Prior experience working with and training foreign military personnel is highly desired.
• Prior experience working with foreign military personnel in the region is highly desired.
