General Description
The NATO Joint Force Training Centre (JFTC) in Bydgoszcz, Poland, conducts regular training for NATO personnel deploying to Afghanistan to serve as members of Military Advisor Teams (MAT) at the Above-Kandak (AK) level and members of Operational Coordination Centres (OCC). This training
prepares Corps, Brigade, and Garrison Support Unit level MAT members and OCC members to execute their mission of training and mentoring personnel of the Afghanistan National Army (ANA), of providing the conduit for liaison and command and control and, when required, of supporting the operational planning and employment of the ANA unit to which they are aligned in order to support the development of a self-sufficient, competent and professional ANA.
Training audiences come to the JFTC to practice their training and mentoring missions and in that framework interact with subject matter experts (SME) with relevant, recent training/mentoring experience with the ANA in Afghanistan. ANA personnel also participate in these AK MAT/OCC training events.
The training reflects the priorities of NATO ISAF and the Afghan Government and complement existing training and capacity development programs.
Primary Responsibilities
The candidate will provide instruction, teaching, and mentoring, within their field of expertise, to NATO military personnel being deployed to serve in MAT or OCC positions in Afghanistan. The training is held in a military classroom environment. The candidate will leverage their subject-matter expert knowledge experience and judgment to complete assignments, which will include development and presentation of blocks of instruction. The candidate’s training and mentoring will be in the form of these lectures, as well as small-group workshops aimed at student participation, and supporting Mission Rehearsal Exercises (MREs).
The candidate will perform duties with a spirit of teamwork, use initiative to solve work problems, and provide input to the STS operations manager and/or program manager on how to improve processes and operations.
The candidate must comply with all STS policies and procedures, to include the STS Employee Code of Conduct.
