Principal Optical Design Engineer (UV optics design | Inspection system | CodeV | Zemax) (#107822)

Job Title: Principal Optical Design Engineer
Location: Milpitas, CA
Duration: Fulltime

Job description:
The Surfscan-ADE division of KLA-Tencor is an industry leading supplier of wafer inspection and metrology systems. Wafer suppliers and device manufacturers worldwide rely on our measurement and inspection systems to certify and ensure the highest quality bare silicon substrates. Semiconductor device yields begin with the bare wafer, and our leading technologies provide early insight into surface defects, shape, flatness and nanotopography of these advanced 300 and 450mm substrates. Our optical inspection and metrology tools will support the next several generations of wafer and IC manufacturing.

We are seeking a Principal Optical Engineer whose responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

1.Facilitate the specification, design, and integration of new optics enabled products for the Optics Development Engineering group.
2.Construct complex system models having all critical parameters needed to produce accurate and efficient models of beam shape and size, focal depth, polarization, and transmission.
3.Perform illumination system modeling, simulation of 2D phase grating/diffraction efficiency as a function of illumination spot shape and size as well as the effects of background wavefront errors and other coherent noise artifacts and beam depolarization.

Education and Experience:
1.In addition to basic qualifications, the successful candidate should be a sequential ray tracing (CodeV,  Zemax, Oslo) expert user, non-sequential ray tracing (LightTools, Zemax, TracePro) intermediate user, and physical optics/diffraction/phase modeling software (Virtual Lab, Gsolver, DigiOpt) intermediate user.
2.Thorough understanding of Gaussian beam propagation theory, geometric optics aberration theory, and physical optics based coherence and diffraction theory is required.
3.Must have experience in optical system architecture development.
4.Candidate should have used either Matlab or some other data simulation and image processing algorithm development software packages.
5.Hands on experience with industry standard interferometry and metrology data processing software is desirable.
6.Candidate having Optics Engineering degree with coursework in fundamental Lens Design, Aberration and Diffraction Theory, as well as Optical Engineering is highly desirable.

Basic Qualification:
Bachelor's Level Degree with at least 15 years of experience.
OR
Master's Level Degree with at least 12 years of experience.
OR
Doctorate (Academic) with at least 8 years of experience.
