CADD Director - Kasian - Vancouver

Position Overview:
Responsible for the highest technical digital caliber quality of Kasian projects; Ensures advocacy and ongoing development of Kasian Computer Aided Design & Drafting practices and standards.

Key Functions and Duties:

  • Long term CADD strategy development and execution.
  • Responsible for CADD technology advocacy throughout the firm.
  • Establish CADD standards and policies which include developing an understanding of performance measures.
  • Develop, guide and oversee educational programs in order to improve skill levels of employees utilizing such tools as Revit, AutoCad, etc.
  • Working together with IT department to ensure hardware and infrastructure support digital design today and tomorrow (i.e. leasing of the hardware).
  • Ensure business practices, procedures, and protocols are state-of-the-art based on external benchmarks, and that they constantly evolve to maintain leading edge capabilities.
  • Work closely with Project Performance Manager, Team Leaders and others to ensure that practices, procedures, and protocols support operational needs, objectives, and strategies.
  • Provide leadership on key projects as a technical consultant; serve as internal Mentor as required.
  • Work closely with Project Performance Manager to ensure that project digital environment is set up and maintained to enable project success.
  • Assess talent throughout the Firm and determine “gaps” from both missing resources for recruiting needs or skills for additional training.
  • Ensures highest technical support is provided to all sites in CADD and graphic design software.
  • Manage a group of CAD Managers to ensure high performance levels, recruiting, training, etc.
  • Conduct ongoing research on the CADD and BIM standards, practices and approaches.
Minimum Requirements: (Education, Experience, Qualifications, Skills, Abilities)

  • Bachelor's degree or higher. Experienced Technologist or Architect. Management coursework is a plus.
  • Minimum of 12 years of related technical experience, including progressive direct experience managing increasingly complex CAD projects and programs, multidisciplinary team leadership.
  • Proven leadership capability in developing and executing strategies to achieve standards, expertise within a Firm.
  • Self-evident leadership style that includes strong people management capability and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with 2-D and 3-D design and illustration. Proficiency in AutoCAD, 3D Max (or equivalent), Revit.
  • Strong connection with network of suppliers.
  • Experience in BIM environment.
