RESPONSIBILITIES:This job has the following responsibilities:
1. Program Management
Offer guidance in development, implementation and management of safety and security policies, plans, and guidelines.
Coordinate with appropriate PSI headquarters departments to ensure that program activities follow best practices.
Liaise with partners and relevant professional associations in partner meetings, working groups and other coordinating bodies.
Update and maintain the PSI/Washington security plan.
Develop, maintain, and utilize monitoring tools and indicators for organizational S&S practices and compliance.
Identify ways to improve the integration of safety and security practices into programmatic activities and routines.
2. Country Program Support
Contribute to country program strategic planning.
Assist senior leadership in PSI country programs to establish and implement policies and procedures in compliance with PSI Quality Standards.
Monitor media and other sources for up to date security information to be shared with relevant staff to keep them informed of changing security situations.
3. Capacity Building
Strengthen the capacity of and transfer skills to country program staff to independently implement, manage, and improve security practices.
Present overview of PSI security resources for headquarters staff and new hires in PSI Immersion training.
Provide travel security briefings for travelers heading to high-risk countries.
Conduct trainings at headquarters and in PSI country programs on safety and security planning and crisis response.
4. Financial Management
Assist with proposal development to include appropriate security costs and training.
Manage contract and task orders with external security consultants.
Create and actively manage a global security budget for training and support.
5. Compliance and Audit Coordination
Liaise with Global Internal Audit department to improve safety and security components of bi-annual audits.
6. Crisis Management
Coordinate and support all Crisis Management Team meetings.
Provide technical expertise and guidance to crisis response efforts as needed at headquarters, and in-country when appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate degree in relevant discipline preferred
At least 5 years of work experience in safety and security,
At least 1 year experience of managing a team in a developing country
Proven management skills
Experience of working for an INGO preferred
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Proficiency in French and/or Spanish preferred
