Job Summary

The Safety Officer is responsible for the safety

management in compliance with the Operations

Handbook, SOPs, Local Safety Rules, Area

Security Plan and annexes.





Duties and Responsibilities

Position's Specific Objectives and Responsibilities

The Safety Officer is to:

• Ensure operation to be in compliance with

safety procedures

• Manage and implement safety procedures

• Instruct staff to be compliant with safety

procedures

• Disseminate security related information to

senior management

• Manage guards.

• Manage the safety of offices and buildings





Responsibilities and Tasks

To achieve the overall and specific position's

objectives the Safety Officer will perform the

following tasks and undertake the following

responsibilities:

Safety

• Supervise, manage and instruct staff about

safety awareness and procedures

• Conduct safety briefings for staff and visitors

• Support security assessments and implement

technical guidance

• Monitor staff movements outside the office

• Support with information to the development of

incident reports

• Recommend corrective actions and report any

safety rules violations

• Support senior management with security

updates of offices and buildings

• Report any incidents involving staff and

properties, as well as any other incident, which

does not directly involve staff

• Report any information which has, or may have,

an impact on operations and staff

• Instruct staff about evacuation procedures

• Maintain and change safety equipment

• Receive, assess and refer enquiries to staff and

respond to enquiries at the entrance gate

• Attend external meetings related to safety

Management of guards:

• Assist with the hiring of guards.

• Supervise and instruct the guards in safety

procedures and conduct of behaviour

• Manage access points and permission to enter

the compound and office

• Instruct drivers in the conduct of safe and

cautious driving

• Instruct drivers in the use and maintenance of

vehicle safety equipment

• Instructing drivers on behaviour of driving

during incidents

• Prepare and disburse working plans for guards.

• Ensure that staff carry ID card in the office

• Supervise and train staff in hygiene procedures

Document filing

• Maintain filing system of safety files and records

• Ensure information flow with relevant

departments

• Performance of safety administrative matters

Other duties

• Produce monthly / weekly report using use

relative forms.

Reporting line

The Safety Officer reports to the Area Manager

and - in his/her absence - to the Deputy Area

Manager or anyone designated. The Safety Officer

coordinate and is advised about safe procedures

by Senior Safety Officer.

Priority Responsibilities and Tasks (in the coming

3 Months)

• Support guards; assist to establish and maintain

security procedures, assist and procedures in the

build-up of the office.

• Successful completion of a three-month

probationary period, including a positive

performance review at the end of the

probationary period.





Qualification

Minimum 3 years experience with security

management

• Good reporting skills and sound ability with

numbers

• Good communication skills

• Sound command of written and spoken English

and Pashtu

• Strong computer skills

• Ability to instruct and coordinate staff

• Knowledge of working with government related

issues

• Have good organizational skills and personal

ethics
