Position Description
• Support the APAC region in a cost effective manner by mitigating risks that are consistent with AIG Global Security Standards and Policy on an on-going basis.
• This position will be based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as part of the Asia Pacific security team and report to the AIG Regional Security Director – Asia Pacific.
• While based in Malaysia, support of and travel to other countries in the APAC Region will regularly be required.
• The major focus of this position will be to provide professional security management to all AIG entities in the Region
• Manage the day to day Security Operations
• Maintain proper liaison, support and compliance for all locations within the assigned area of responsibility, including awareness of security incidents that occur with elevation to AIG Regional Security Director – Asia Pacific to ensure appropriate investigation and/or remediation takes place and proactive steps are taken to improve security if appropriate.
• Develop and maintain proper liaison with appropriate government agencies, professional organizations and AIG designated security vendors (e.g. ADT, Control Risks, Jaguar Security).
• Develop subject matter expertise (SME) around regional and local laws and practices, and keep abreast of incidents and threats that may impact Company Businesses with the Region
• Sustain the security assessment results that have been identified; as well as, support any future surveys and certifications required for Company locations within the Region
• Implement greater standardization of existing (and new) policies and procedures as communicated by AIG Global Security that are consistent with, or superseded by, more stringent local laws and implementation needs (e.g. organize translation of key documents into local language) for the existing Company locations; as well as, new leased or purchased locations under consideration
• Elevate key policy issues and standards to AIG Regional Security Director – Asia Pacific that need to be addressed on a Corporate basis to promote greater consistency and best practices across all regions
• Provide security communication and training as needed; notifying, AIG Regional Security Director – Asia Pacific of any training programs or requirements that are needed to promote greater consistency and best practices across all regions
• Drive standardized use of vendors and security solutions consistent with direction provided by AIG Global Security and AIG Sourcing
• Provide operational and contractual oversight of guard services and security integrator services to ensure optimal price/performance
• Develop and maintain a security plan and budget needed to support the needs of the region, consistent with direction provided by the business, regional management and AIG Global Security
• Interface with Business Continuity and Real Estate as required to facilitate synergies across these functional areas
• The position will require deployment of AIG Global Security created and approved policies and/or standard operating procedures. Approval of these policies and procedures occurs at the AIG Global Security corporate level.
Position Requirements
• Strong security skills and experience, especially in the implementation, standardization of, and compliance with policy and procedures across the APAC Region
• Strong project management and security technology skills
• Knowledge of regional laws and practices relating to security
• Knowledge of guard-force management (proprietary & contractual)
• Experience projecting and managing budgets
• Self-starter who can roll up his/her sleeves and get the job accomplished; able to multi-task and handle competing priorities
• Good English communication skills; including, comprehension, speaking, and business writing
• Experience with living and working in the APAC Region
• Maintaining a network of government and corporate security professionals throughout the APAC Region
• Strong conflict management and people skills
• Travel and extended work hours may be required to support locations within area of responsibility on a needs
basis
• Prior security experience with multi-national financial services organization preferred (e.g. insurance
company, bank) preferred
• Prior military, law enforcement or Corporate Security experience preferred
