Two TT at Bard College, NY

Bard College invites applications for two tenure-track positions in physics in its Division of Science, Mathematics, and Computing beginning in the fall semester of 2014. At least one of the positions will be filled by an experimental physicist. Bard College is a highly selective liberal arts college with a rapidly growing Science Division and Physics Program, located 100 miles north of New York City on the Hudson River. More information about the Physics Program can be found at http://physics.bard.edu.
The requirements of each position are a commitment to teaching excellence in a liberal arts setting and the ability to create an active research program that is open to undergraduate involvement, for which start-up funds are available. Members of the Physics Program work closely with faculty members throughout the Division and the College in research and curricular development, and candidates are encouraged to present any interests that could overlap with other fields of study. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Physics and preferably post-doctoral experience.
Candidates would teach courses at all levels within the Physics Program, and would be expected to develop additional courses, including introductory-level courses open to the general college student. The development of optics courses in particular will complement the existing offerings.
To apply, please send a cover letter, a Curriculum Vitae, a teaching statement, a research statement, and three letters of recommendation (at least one addressing teaching) to https://secure.interfolio.com/apply/21929. Review of applications will begin on October 1, 2013.
Bard College is an equal opportunity employer and we welcome applications from those who contribute to our diversity.
