Senior Security and Emergency Management Adviser

Position: Senior Security and Emergency Management Adviser

Purpose:
The Senior Security and Emergency Management Adviser is accountable for the security and emergency management (including business continuity) portfolio across the Santos GLNG project and other operations in Queensland, and where required, oversee international activities related to GLNG project activities. This role will operate strategically with both Vice Presidents and a number of operational managers and the role has functional link to the Santos Principle Security Adviser and acts on his behalf as required within the GLNG project. The role is critical in establishing and maintaining external relationships with stakeholders such as State/Federal law enforcement, security agencies and local authorities. The position represents GLNG in the key liaison role within the CSG Industry security and EM networks developing industry wide standards and fostering CSG industry level relationships with key Federal, State and local agencies.

Key Functions:
• Accountable for Queensland Security and Emergency Management systems and their alignment and implementation in accordance with the Santos EHSMS.
• Provide expertise and support to Queensland Leadership Team and other relevant stakeholders regarding security, emergency and incident management issues as a core process within the HSS function.
• Accountable for the development, maintenance and stewardship of a pan-project management system for both security and emergency management applicable to all Queensland sites and operations together with international project related work locations.
• Develop plans, procedures, systems and performance measures for the implementation, monitoring and continued improvement of security and emergency management initiatives across Queensland up to and including the operations phase of the GLNG project; and ongoing project and operational application.
• Advise and assist relevant businesses on the preparation, evaluation, maintenance and testing of their Business Continuity Plans in accordance with relevant company guidelines.
• Establish and maintain relevant relationships with Federal, State and local law enforcement and security agencies (including ASIO) emergency management and other external stakeholders to identify trends and issues which may impact on Queensland operations and gain advice on the development of mitigation strategies to address these.
• Act as the key point of contact for State Government critical infrastructure protection measures affecting GLNG assets.
• Represent LNG on joint CSG industry steering groups including development of industry wide Security and ER projects through the industry Mutual Aid Working Group.
• Oversee and assure security and emergency management for international work impacting on GLNG project deliverables (Philippines, USA).
• Oversee and assure process for maritime security and emergency management for Australian and international waters.
• Advise and assist in achieving security and M Coordinator-General requirements and participation in auditing process.
• Provide support to GLNG HSS team as required for Security and EM and provide functional link to HSS resources embedded within the line management functions.

Essential Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or international equivalent in an area of study relevant to this position.
• Qualifications or experience in engineering or IT related field may also be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Professional member of a Security, Emergency Management, Business Continuity Institute or Disaster Recovery Institute
• Professional qualification as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP).
Required Experience:
• 5-10 years of experience in a corporate security and/or emergency management environment with at least three years of physical security and technology integration or emergency management implementation experience.
• Strong ability to analyze complex operational problems and issues, defining their nature and extent and identifying patterns and trends.
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to lead cooperative efforts and influence and negotiate to achieve positive outcomes.
• Demonstrated ability to build functional relationships with technical experts across a range of disciplines (architects, engineers, technical security specialists).
• Strong functional knowledge of physical, human and technical security solutions and their implementation across complex operating environments.
• Experience with current Australian Government National Security arrangements and legislation.
• Demonstrated understanding and experience in Risk Management Methodology.
• Demonstrated project management experience.
