Position requires identifying key legislative issues of importance to the ready mixed concrete industry and engaging and educating federal officials to seek beneficial issue outcomes. Specific issue areas include, but are not limited to transportation, financial services, environment, safety, labor and building standards. The position is highly focused on direct issue advocacy with decision makers and greater relationship building among other industry representatives, and Congressional members and their staff. The position is responsible for creating and implementing association and industry issue positions and policies. This position also requires some political action committee management, development and functions. Job Requirements: Candidate is also proficient with: • Monitoring, attending and reporting on hearings; • Reading, writing and issue analysis; • Updating and educating association membership and decision makers; • Drafting congressional testimony, issue papers, weekly and monthly periodicals, grassroots letters, Legislative and Executive Branch communications, membership issue alerts, updates and presentations; • Coordinating and communicating with other government affairs staff members on industry issues, and assisting with association meetings; and • Knowledge of Federal Election Commission compliance and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two to four years experience with a thorough understanding of the federal legislative and regulatory process, prior Capitol Hill experience, and at least a Bachelor’s Degree.
