Security Officer

Location: Kabul, Afghanistan
POSITION SUMMARY
The Security Officer conducts assessments and advises the Security Manager in matters relating to security, safety, and compliance for all program personnel and activities. The Security Officer additionally acts as an advisor to senior country management and provides recommendations for program operations.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

• Responsible for conducting risk assessments of routes, locations, and procedures associated with program personnel theater-wide.
• Responsible for filling in as a Driver Escort as required.
• Provides in-country weapons training and qualifications for program personnel.
• Conducts research and analysis on the requirements for new and current weapons, vehicles, and security equipment. Makes recommendations for security related acquisitions.
• Produces assessments on the acquisition and implementation of new and current weapons, vehicles, and security equipment.
• Responsible for assisting the Security Manager in coordinating theater-wide program security activities.
• Responsible for coordinating with security and force protection elements in order to support program personnel.
• Responsible for producing briefs, updates, policies, procedures, and/or other products as required by program management.
• Responsible for providing effective recommendations for highly complex and sensitive situations that incorporate strategic direction and services ideally suited to customer needs.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to operate in independent and collaborative work environments.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
• Ability to work successfully with host country and third country nationals.
• Ability to live and operate in an austere and hazardous environment.
• Ability to communicate using interpreter/translators.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Experience:
• Recent deployment and operational experience in Afghanistan specifically, or the Middle East desired.
• Certification as a security professional from a civilian or US military organization (CPP, PSP, or Level 2 ATFP Officer or above) or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant military, law enforcement, or private security experience at a senior level (Field Grade/WO/Senior non-Commissioned Officer).
• Operational experience with US military special operations forces or selected U.S. military forces law enforcement organizations highly desired.
• Antiterrorism and Force Protection doctrine expertise desired.
• Active TOP SECRET security clearance with SCI eligibility preferred.
• Must have a valid US passport.
