Metro Area) To Apply: https://xjobs.brassring.com/1033/ASP/TG/cim_jobdetail.asp?partnerid=25079&siteid=5171&AReq=32845BR&codes=LinkedIn Job Description Summary: Reporting to the Vice President of Government Relations and Public Affairs of Volvo Group North America, the Manager of Government Relations will be responsible for anticipating, identifying and lobbying on North American transportation, environmental, and energy challenges and other opportunities that have the potential to impact Volvo’s business worldwide. Responsibilities: • Managing Volvo Group’s transportation, environmental, and energy portfolios with regard to Federal and selected State legislative issues • Helping develop and implement strategies to promote Federal and selected State public policy positions to benefit Volvo Group, working closely with the Vice President of Government Relations and other Volvo Group government relations and business area/unit personnel • Preparing written summaries of U.S. Federal legislative and regulatory activities and developments of interest to the Volvo Group, and assisting in preparing letters, testimony, management briefings and memoranda regarding government-related matters • Monitoring the legislative and regulatory environment in order to identify, evaluate, analyze and report major changes and emerging issues which could have a significant impact upon the company • Developing credible working relationships with Federal and selected State public officials and staff, including communicating information about Volvo Group and its business areas/units to public officials, and abiding by all laws and established guidelines (including Federal lobbying law) • Representing the company in meetings before Members of Congress and staff, regulators, trade and legislative organizations to advance Volvo Group public policy positions Desired Skills & Experience Skills and Knowledge Required: • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Assertive and dynamic individual who is proactive in communicating and able to develop effective relationships at all levels both internally and externally • Demonstrated understanding of Federal policymaking, solid analytical skills and demonstrated ability to solve problems quickly and creatively • High energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted initiatives in conjunction with day- to-day activities with minimum supervision as well as work in a team environment in a small DC office • Ability to develop high levels of credibility and forge solid and positive professional relationships with all levels of the organization through the use of tact, diplomacy and discretion Education and Experience: • 5 years professional experience in the area of Federal government relations • 2 years working on Capitol Hill, a state level government or lobbying organization in transportation, environmental, and/or energy policy • Complete understanding of the Federal legislative and regulatory process • Experience with Congressional transportation, energy, and environmental authorizations and appropriations • A wide network of contacts within the Federal government, elected officials and staff, business community and public interest groups is required • Bachelor’s degree in related field is required Company DescriptionThe Volvo Group is one of the leading suppliers of commercial transport solutions providing products such as trucks, buses, construction equipment, drive systems for marine and industrial applications as well as aircraft engine components.
