Job Title: Biblical Counselor
Job Description: We are looking for a full-time biblical counselor who would like to serve the missionary community at The Spanish Language Institute in San José, Costa Rica.
The Department of Counseling and Pastoral Care at SLI was established to care for missionary families in language school in ways that their local church might not be able to because of the language barriers. We are hoping to add more staff to our department to become a training center for missionaries, providing not just counseling, but education in biblical counseling to prepare and equip them for future ministries and to serve as a retreat and resource center for SLI Alumni. We are also experiencing incredible growth in our outreach to the local community of English and Spanish speakers.
A qualified candidate should have a minimum of 10 years experience in ministry, preferably with cross-cultural experience; have completed at least a Master's level education in biblical counseling and/or similar certification (ex: NANC, CCEF, etc.); and be willing to raise financial support through local churches and individuals who will carry the ministry in prayer. Spanish is not required, though the applicant may be encouraged to take part in classes to begin learning the language of our local community.
Information about the Organization: For over 70 years, SLI has been training missionaries to enter Latin and South American countries, Spain and Latino communities all over the world to share the gospel in Spanish.
