Director State Government Relations – Washington, D.C. Ally Financial Inc. is a leading automotive financial services company powered by a top direct banking franchise. Ally's automotive services business offers a full suite of financing products and services, including new and used vehicle inventory and consumer financing, leasing, inventory insurance, commercial loans and vehicle remarketing services. Ally Bank, the company's direct banking subsidiary, offers an array of deposit products, including certificates of deposit, savings accounts, money market accounts, IRA deposit products and interest checking. Ally's Commercial Finance unit provides financing to middle-market companies across a broad range of industries. Key Responsibilities: • Reports to Chief Public Policy Officer and develops and maintains state legislative program with a focus on certain key regions to ensure organizational awareness of governmental legislation/regulatory issues that affect the organization. • Monitors legislative and regulatory proposals that impacts Ally business operations. • Partners with internal corporate resources (such as corporate communications and legal staff) to ensure consistent media messages regarding legislation, public policy and regulatory actions. • Coordinates all government relation materials for requisite state filings and works with legal staff to assemble. • Identify internal sources and coordinates input into the analysis and positions development process • Serves as the company representative for trade associations and other groups Experience Required: • Bachelor’s degree with a liberal arts concentration preferred • At least seven years state legislative experience, Regulatory Agency, Trade Association or similar professional experience with a focus on state government relations • Strong knowledge base of legislative process • Working knowledge with laws governing Lobby Disclosure Rules • Knowledge of how state legislatures and executive agencies operate and are organized • Persuasive written and oral communication skills • Strong attention to detail and follow through skills • Computer proficiency with Excel, Microsoft Word, Power Point.
