Job Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Milpitas, CA
Duration: Full time

Job Description:

Responsibilities:
1. Develop system level architecture/solutions and error budget analysis for the mechanical engineering portion of an electron beam development program.  Included in this category are electron, x-ray and ion beam optics, electrical, mechanical, photonics, and physio-chemistry system design, development, and integration.
2.Participate/lead design, simulations, error budget development and design review processes, design and execution of experiments, validation processes, and execution to the PLC protocol, including development risk identification, assessment, and mitigation.
3. Produce sub-system specifications to meet the total tool performance requirements, support engineering staff in next level specification and test planning.
4. Provide effective presentation and written evaluations to internal customers to show capabilities of the product concept. Interface with customers to understand the requirement of their needs. Feedback on product performance and market gaps back to the marketing and engineering teams.  This candidate must work closely with other internal development programs within KT.

Desired Skills and Experience:
1. Familiarity with electron optics systems, wafer transport and vacuum systems is a must.
2. Thorough knowledge of systems engineering and having completed an e-beam product development cycle preferred.
3. Ability to system and sub-system architectural solutions
4. Ability to develop/conceptualize system requirements, Mechanical assemblies, error budgets, and designs based on conventional/unconventional design of electron beam system and controls.
5. Should be able to perform basic FEA analysis using either ProMechanica or SolidWorks Simulation. The ability to perform complex analysis a plus.
6. Must have experience designing parts and assemblies for use in high and ultra high vacuum environment.
7. Must be able to create 3D part/assembly models and detail drawings for fabrication per best practices using ProE.  Should be able to perform tolerance analysis on designs to ensure budgets are met. Should have a thorough understanding of GD&T standards.
8. Must be able to work within a small team environment, work with outside contractors, consultants, and participate in VOC/market validation efforts.
9. MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering preferred with a minimum of 5 years experience in one or more of the following areas; high precision motion systems, vacuum systems, electron optics, micro manufacturing and controls systems.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Level Degree with at least 12 years of experience.
OR
Master's Level Degree with at least 8 years of experience.
OR
Doctorate (Academic) with at least 5 years of experience.
