Collection Manager

Collection Manager

Marwell Wildlife is a registered charity dedicated to the conservation of biodiversity and other natural resources. Our 140 acre zoological park in the heart of Hampshire is home to over 170 exotic and charismatic species in beautiful landscaped surroundings.

A rare opportunity has arisen within our animal team as Collection Manager overseeing the bird, reptile, amphibian and invertebrate collections.

This role will report to the curator of birds and lower vertebrates, and working within a team of Collection Managers. The role also works closely with the veterinary team.

The role of Collection Manager is responsible for day to day animal care and must be able to demonstrate best practice in all areas of animal management and husbandry.

A key part of the role will be working with studbook managers and EEP coordinators to manage animal transactions, therefore candidates will ideally have previous experience in this area.

Collection Managers are responsible for the recruitment, selection, training, development and performance management of their allocated teams.  Excellent people management skills are a must as you will be working with teams across the organisation as well as your direct reports.

It is expected that the role will represent Marwell at relevant national and international forums.

Therefore the successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing both animals and people within zoos. Candidates must also hold a minimum Level 3 ANC / DMZAA or equivalent qualification in animal management or biological sciences.

Please visit our website, marwell.org.uk for full details and our electronic application form. This application form must be completed for you to be considered for this role.
