The British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA) is the professional organization representing the zoo and aquarium community in Britain and Ireland. Founded in 1966 (as the Federation of Zoological Gardens of Great Britain and Ireland), it is a conservation, education and scientific wildlife charity. Today, 100 zoos and aquariums are members of BIAZA, which is their coordinating and representative voice.
BIAZA is now looking for an outstanding individual to lead the Association in delivering its vision to continue to be a powerful force in the care and conservation of the natural world.
The CEO is responsible for the following areas: Development of the Association and Membership Services; Strategy and Lobbying; BIAZA Administration. The CEO is responsible to the Council of BIAZA, and on a day to day basis reports to the Chairman of BIAZA.
The successful candidate will:
- be degree educated, preferably with a higher degree in a biological or managerial subject
- have significant experience within zoos, or a similar institution, at a senior level
- be a skilled facilitator, effective networker and be an experienced manager
- have proven skills in strategic thinking and strategic implementation.
